During week 2, Marie Osmond and her partner Jonathan Roberts performed the mambo, but Donny Osmond and his partner Kym Johnson never performed the mambo as an individual dance. Instead, season 9 had the mambo marathon. Week 3, Marie Osmond and Roberts tackled the dance that almost proved to be Donny Osmond's downfall as well as his salvation: the tango.
Dancing the tango to Alma Cogan's "Please Mr. Brown," Marie Osmond and Roberts scored a 26 (9,8, 9).
During week 9, Donny Osmond and Johnson performed the tango to "Black and Gold" by Sam Sparro, but Johnson had a wardrobe malfunction. She tripped and he tripped. Their score: 21 (7, 7, 7). Here again, Donny Osmond had to perform the tango, then the samba (26) and finally the jitterbug (27).
Still, Marie Osmond wins the tango round.
