According to Showbiz Spy, Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence will be back on television in a new sitcom tailor made for them...or...is it something old remade into something new? Called "Melissa and Joey," the show which is being developed for the "Dancing with the Stars" channel ABC, will be about a woman (Hart) who gets a male nanny (Lawrence) to help her with her sister's kids. Does that sound suspiciously like "Who's the Boss?"
Hart and Lawrence have already played opposite of each other in the TV movie, "My Fake Fiance," last year. The movie was about a pair who, in need of money, decide to pretend they are engaged and getting married in order to rake in some cash and presents.
Of course, Hart is best known for her role in the teen TV series, "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," (1996-2003). Lawrence is not the only DWTS alum she's been paired with. In 2007, she starred opposite Mario Lopez in "Holiday in Handcuffs" in which she plays an aspiring painter who works as a waitress and kidnaps one of her customers so she can bring a boyfriend home to her family for Christmas. Are the holidays really that bad for lonely singles?
Lopez finished second in the third season of DWTS. Paired with Karina Smirnoff, Lopez lost to former football star Emmitt Smith and his partner Cheryl Burke. Lawrence and his partner, Edyta Sliwinska, finished third that season.
Lawrence is best known for his role as Joey Russo in the TV series "Blossom" (1991-1995).
For those who don't know, "Who's the Boss?" was an American sitcom on ABC (1984-1992) which starred Tony Danza and Judith Light. Danza played a former baseball player (St. Louis Cardinals) who was widowed and had a daughter and decides to move out of Brooklyn. Light was a divorced advertising executive living in Connecticut who needed a live-in housekeeper and had a son.
Light currently plays Claire Meade in ABC's "Ugly Betty." Danza reportedly will star in an A&E reality show in which he'll be an English teacher in Philadelphia.
Hart wasn't so light and graceful as her other competitors on DWTS during season nine, but she did sparkle during her Charleston routine. Check out Joey Lawrence on the dance floor. Maybe the show will feature some DWTS professionals and some dancing.
The Charleston.
Joey Lawrence performs the cha cha cha.
