I bet you're surprised that Michael Irvin is still dancing away? He is, too. Having survived the dance off against snowboarder Louie Vito and his partner Chelsie Hightower, Irvin was grateful and Anna Demidova told him to think Broadway, and he decided to try and channel Fred Astaire for his foxtrot.

In a pink long-sleeved shirt, dark brown best and pants, he smiled and was surprisingly graceful. As for the long gown he designed for his partner, Irvin said his inspiration was a purple dinosaur. He said he watched Barney with his kids, and wanted to bring that purpleness to the ballroom. The dark purple was light up with plenty of rhinestones and a light pink trim that matched his shirt.
Dancing to The Kinks' "Sunny Afternoon," Irvin still can't compete with Jerry Rice (who received a 24 for his foxtrot with partner Anna Trebunskaya during season 2 week 4), but he pleased the judges.
Len Goodman commented, "I'm so glad you hung around" and called his performance in the foxtrot "brilliant."
Bruno Tonioli cautioned that his "bum still sticks out," but did mention his musicality had improved.
Carrie Ann Inaba said his movement was fluid and now his routines have great content. She also mentioned that the costume he designed was beautiful.
How did Irvin and Demidova compare to the remaining couples? During week 1 night 1, Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson danced the foxtrot to "All That Jazz" from "Chicago" to score 20. They were not only the high score for that dance (but not the high score of the evening), but are the only remaining couple who danced the foxtrot that night (Chuck Liddell and Anna Trebunskaya, Ashley Hamilton and Edyta Sliwinska, Louie Vito and Chelsie Hightower). Week 1 night 2, four couples danced a foxtrot relay. Of those couples, only Joanna Krupa and Derek Hough, who were the high scorers, earning a 10, remain (Natalie Coughlin and Alec Mazo were second, Debi Mazar and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Kathy Ireland and Tony Dovolani were last). The low score for the foxtrot was 15 for Hamilton and Sliwinska.
