Mya and Dmitry Chaplin scoring a perfect 30 week 8 (samba).
Mya and Dmitry Chaplin have proven they can dance and entertain. There was some grumbling that Mya has too much dance experience to be considered a non-pro, but nothing suggests Mya had experience dancing ballroom. And Monday night, she was near perfect.

Head judge Len Goodman hasn't always approved of the choreography and all that theatrical messing about, but Mya has done well on the fast dances that gave the eliminated Joanna Krupa and her partner Derek Hough, problems. Sure, she probably should win, but Aaron Carter should also probably dancing his heart out in the finals along with Karina Smirnoff.
Goodman showed up to coach Mya and Dmitry Chaplin on their paso and told Mya to be bigger and it must have helped. Bruno Tonioli said, "The power of Mya unleashed." It was flamboyant, and really got the beauty of the paso doble.
Carrie Ann Inaba called Mya the "Queen of the paso doble." She thought it was hot and very dynamic.
Goodman commented that his favorite paso doble of all the seasons was Mel B. and Maksim Chmerkovskiy's performance and he told Mya and Chaplin, this performance was right up there.
Mya and Chaplin received a perfect score for their paso doble to Queen's "We Will Rock You." How does that compare to the other teams?
Paso doble:
- Mya and Dmitry Chaplin: 30
- Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson: 24 (week 8)
- Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel: 19 (week 5)
Megamix:
This mix began with Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You," went to Shakira's "Whenever, Wherever" and ended with Michael Sembello's "Maniac." Mya and Chaplin took the megamix.
- Mya and Dmitry Chaplin: 30
- Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson: 28
- Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel: 26
Freestyle:
Mya wanted to do something more Vegas; Chaplin wanted to go Broadway. They went Broadway, dancing to the Broadway musical "Hairspray" song "You Can't Stop the Beat" and got good scores, but didn't wow the judges.
Inaba complimented the high energy, but wanted more. So did Goodman who thought there was a sameness to the whole routine. Tonioli stated there was a sense of vibrancy and joy, but it wasn't spectacular.
This led to the upset of the night. Mya and Chaplin weren't the top freestyle performance. Osmond and Johnson were.
- Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson: 30
- Mya and Dmitry Chaplin: 27
- Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel: 24
Judges' ranking at the end of Monday night:
- Mya and Dmitry Chaplin: (30, 30, 27) 87
- Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson: (27, 28, 30) 85
- Kelly Osbourne and Louis Van Amstel: (26, 26, 24) 76
Mya and Chaplin certainly deserve that mirrorball, but will the voters give it to them? Want to Mya and Chaplin that trophy for all their hard work? Vote for Mya.
