Aaron Carter and Karina Smirnoff have it tough. Carter and Smirnoff earned the highest score last week for the individual dance with his 29 for a quick kicking jive. Still they ended up in the dance off, doing yet another fantastic jive. Carter doesn't feel he's shown viewers all he can do, but Carter and Smirnoff know they aren't audience favorites.

Worse yet, Smirnoff had a fever. The dance itself, a foxtrot to Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat's "Lucky," was not smooth as it could have been and there were moments when the two were out of synch.
Bruno Tonioli commented that he could see all the effort that went into the performance, but it came off as "a little bit tense."
Carrie Ann Inaba also saw the amount of effort put into the routine, but also saw a loss of fluidity.
Len Goodman told Carter, he had mixed feelings. He felt excitement, joy and bewilderment, but was proud of Carter. "For a young man, I think you've done very, very well."
Carter and Smirnoff received a 23.
Carter and Smirnoff did better in the latin round. They were dancing the samba and asked to bring a 1990s flavor to it. Carter had a hit in 1999 (His self-titled album was released in 1997 in Europe and 1998 in the U.S.) and wanted to add steps like the rodeo.
During the performance, Carter and Smirnoff danced teh samba to "Two Princes" by Spin Doctors.
Goodman said that Carter came out, performed it and sold it.
Tonioli commented that all of Carter's energy has now been made good and thought that it would be very difficult to marry the samba with the 1990s, but Carter and Smirnoff pulled it off.
Inaba said that Carter had become a truly great performer.
This routine received nines across the board.
Still, this is the final five couples. Carter and Smirnoff ended the night tied for last place with Donny Osmond and Kym Johnson. Carter and Smirnoff will likely be cut tomorrow night (Tuesday). They are the only remaining couple who has been in the bottom two (or three for last week) and they've had that unfortunate distinction three times. When the show began, Carter and Smirnoff were favored to win by some gambling web site, but despite his scores, that seems doubtful.
