The group was in the great outdoors where a gym membership, instructor fees and costly exercise machines were not necessary. Pilates outdoors is a cheap date. Trail running, mountain biking and hiking are popular according to the Outdoor Foundation; however pilates outside encourages deep breathing, working the body hard, moving, and embracing physical activities. As well it is organic fun!
Outdoor pilates is a great fitness plan for people. Nature-based activities offer clarity and mental alertness. Pilates is excellent for lower blood pressure, cardiovascular health and for burning calories. Nature allows the pilates experience to be intense and vigorous. Pilates is, for the most part, concerned with strength and flexibility focusing in on the abdomen and back muscles.
The coordination of both muscular and mental faculties is emphasized and deep relaxation in the body during the poses systematically sneaks in. The intention of pilates is to balance movements and let go. The abs are the "corset of support" and the school of pilates teaches one to pull the abs, tighten them, and expand them towards the spinal column. In time flat abs do not seem like such a tough task to achieve.
Outside pilates offers strength of the lower spine, deeply strong abdominal muscles, and one's vital organs are filled with fresh flowing blood and oxygen. On a cellular level, healthy metabolic activity is promoted. While working out intensely in an outdoor pilates class on Kelly Drive, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the group lengthened and strengthened abdominal organs, the back, sides, and the front waist which extends and lifts up off the pelvis evenly, therefore engaging the core muscles.
As you age lungs loose elasticity, cells in the body weaken, and vital energy weakens. Pilates stabilizes and soothes this process becoming the foundation to create health maintenance through the entire body and mind.
Try outdoor pilates in the upcoming months of autumn. Watch nature surrounding you. You'll be stronger, longer and happier!
