Roy Williams is spouting at the mouth again, this time comparing his connection with Tony Romo to that of Hall of Famers Joe Montana and Jerry Rice. No, I am not kidding. He said it during this interview.
Seriously, I do not mind Williams confidence but this comparison just grates my nerves the wrong way. Here is a guy who the Cowboys picked to be their No. 1 receiver and ever since he has been in Dallas he hasn't even been the third best receiver on the team. Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton and Jason Witten continue to outplay him.
Why Williams thinks this year he will finally star at wide receiver is beyond me because he was in the top 10 in the NFL with dropped balls and he hasn't been a scoring threat for the team.
Now, with Dez Bryant drafted, Williams' career is on lifeline. Although Williams says he welcomes the new rookie to the team, he has to feel the pressure now, especially if Miles Austin continues to be the top offensive threat that the Cowboys have on the team.
There's no room for all four of these wide receivers to play and the odd man out right now is Roy Williams, even more than maybe Sam Hurd. The big problem is the Cowboys cannot find a buyer for Williams, whose salary is outrageous when compared to his contributions so far in Dallas.
A few days before he made these comments, Williams was pumping his chest that this would be the season that he and Romo shine. It's getting old.
He has no choice but to perform or Williams will find himself released, and the Cowboys will just eat his salary. I know Jerry Jones will do anything to win a Super Bowl, and that includes dropping a former top pick like Williams and soaking up his huge contract.

In the video though it seems more like he was just kind of joking around, don't read to much into it. He was more just trying to make a point that him and Romo are connecting on a level previously unattainable by the two than say they are going to be as good as those two hall of famers
Although Mike Jenkins said Roy "was on fire" and some even argue he did better than Dez, this is his kill or be killed season, he knows that. And like an animal backed into a corner, he's going to try harder than ever before to be on top. Don't rush to the conclusion it's all hot air, lets wait until August before we strike the final blow into Roy Williams trade
Dez will be the starter next year. Roy sucks.
It is old, and he's old, so here's hoping we won't be seeing or hearing him much longer. Let him go and he and TO can go job hunting together.
