Former President Jimmy Carter considered by many to be the worst president of all time is again is once again proving how confused he really is. By stating publically that anyone who opposes the socialistic agenda of President Barack Obama is a “racist”, he is prematurely playing the “race card” for the Democratic (New socialist) party. This irresponsible remark denigrates all concerned citizens who fear that our constitutional values are in jeopardy and choose to speak out against the radical changes of the new administration. It is a desperate measure that will not be successful in helping their cause. Without question this is not to deny that racism exists in America, for certainly it does. However the mere fact that Barack Obama was elected by the white majority in America is proof that times have changed.
Racial discrimination can have an impact on every race. Situations have recently been challenged in the Supreme Court regarding discrimination against white fire fighters who were denied advancement because of the color of their skin (or should I say lack of color). Favoritism for any group because of their race, color, religion, or gender is unfair and needs to be stopped. People need to be judged solely based in their ability and talent.
President Carter’s false charges alleging racial discrimination in a global way, attacking all conservative Americans, is particularly heinous because all it does is foster more anger, and adds fuel to racially charged issues. He is an angry old man that we should simply ignore. He did enough damage to America and continues to embarrass us globally. For those of you who might have forgotten the situation we were in during his presidency, let me remind you. He gave away the Panama Canal despite the fact that we Americans owned and built it. I wonder how much lost revenue for America there is and will be as a consequence of his poor judgement. He allowed Iran students to hold 52 american diplomats hostage for 444 days while America was mocked and appeared weak to our enemies. Perhap the most damaging effect of this was to encourage extremist Islamic fundamentalists to plan future terror attacks against our country. In addition it gave the green light to the Soviet Union which then invaded Afghanistan. Our response , we boycotted the Moscow Olympics. The Soviets must have been quaking in their boots, such a strong statement! The economy was in shambles with double digit inflation (tripled in his 4 years of office) and there was a severe gas shortage. One notable successful venture for the former president was his work with Habitat for Humanity which undoubtedly enhanced the growth of this worthwhile charity. Perhaps he should stick with building houses rather then taking them down. Maybe the most memorable part was his exodus after a miserable 4 years, and the exuberant rise in patriotism with the inauguration of the best president I have ever known, President Ronald Reagan

Jimmy needs duct tape on his mouth when he's in public.
Carter as "worst president of all time"????? Not even close. At least Carter didn't run up a trillion dollar debt or illegally invade another country as did George W. Bush. All of our presidents, democrat and republican should have as much personal integrity as Carter.
What a bunch of garbage. Carter is right. Many of the right wing loudmouths are nothing but racists or racist enablers. As for Reagan, the fact that he opened his presidential campaign in Philadelphia, Mississippi, the place where three civil rights workers were murdered by racist whites 15 years earlier, speaks volumes about Reagan himself.
I thought former presidents were to be elder statesmen... not Jimmy. He is still an ignorant fool.
President Carter speaks truth to ignorance and denial. Racism is our history and legacy. We must struggle against it.
His opponent, Ronald Reagan, however, had created a network of informants within the government to give him advance warning of any changes in the hostage situation. Some accused him of exploiting the hostage crisis in his campaign.
On January 22, 1903, the Hay-Herran Treaty was signed by United States Secretary of State John M. Hay and Dr. Tomás Herrán of Colombia. It would have granted the United States a 99-year lease from Colombia on the land proposed for the canal. It was ratified by the United States Senate on March 14, 1903, but the Senate of Colombia did not ratify the treaty.
reagan was a witless fool who almost ruined us. but if it makes you happy to think the wrinkled old repubate walked on water so be it.
Hope you can sing better than you can write...

Reagan never disclosed he had Alzheimer's disease while President. Nancy and Bush were running the country during that time because of it.
So Carter is the worst President, according to STEVEN F. HAYWARD a resident scholar at the American Enterprise Institute (a conservative think tank), and the author of "The Age of Reagan: The Conservative Counter-Revolution, 1980-1989," ...REALLY?!
The one who wrote this article needs to shut the BLEEP up. You must be an egocentric American who feels that America is entitled to own everything they want. I am American and for someone to say that the Panama Canal belonged to the US is an ignorant fool. US built it for its own benefit, but the land always belonged to Panama, a sovereign country. People like you make the whole world laugh at the USA. Thank God not everyone thinks like that. And with regards to the worst president, i dont know who is the worst, but right now it feels pretty bad and as far as I am concerned, the US didnt fall so low with Carter as we did with Bush, who literally "blew up" this country's economy throughout my the very WORST 8 years of my life in this country as far i know. When revisionist history occurs in a few decades, we will see how Bush has been one of the lowest points in the history of this nation ever!!
One more thing for this MORON WRITER of this articles: Anyone who idolizes Ronald Reagan has to have a certain level of prejudice/hatred in them. Did you forget how, because of that dumb imbecile deat beat Reagan , the AIDS crisis that has KILLED MILLIONS OF AMERICANS was worsen because of his ultra conservative hating policies against gays and minorities. He saw thousands of his fellow Americans dying and he didnt care a thing because he felt they were not important. Policies like his are inhumane and anybody who thinks he was an admirable leader probably symphatizes with such inmoral and embarrasing mentality.
Reply to FV,
Thank you for your enthusiasm. The truth about the Panama Canal can be reviewed on my link on the Panama Canal. There you will see that the United states purchased the land around the Canal for $40,000,000 in 1903. In addition they agreed to pay initially $250,000 annually which was substantially increased over the years. The treaty was signed to go to perpetuity. This area was a US teritory. With regard to your obvious hatred for Reagan I choose not to comment. You are entitled to your opinion as I am entitled to mine. I agree that history will reveal who was the worst president of our lifetime so let's wait and see.
Carter is brain dead, it is ridculous to assume people who disagree with Obama's idiotic policies are racist people.
Ronald Reagan is the greatest president of all times!!!! Before him more than half of the world land masses and world population lived under the most OPPRESIVE FORM OF GOVERNMENT IN THE HISTORY OF HUMANITY...COMMUNISM...REAGAN DID MORE FOR FREEDOM THAN ANY OTHER HUMAN BEING EVER. 9/11 was the result of Carter's legacy & stupidity. He pulled the rug from under the Sha & Somoza, some of the USA most loyal friends. Carter & his democratic party brought about the down of the Sha & Somoza and usher and era of terror and oppresion to Iranians & Nicaraguans by helping to power the Ayallatolahs and the Marxist Sandinistas. Under the Sha and Somoza, Iran and Nicaragua were vibrant economically progressive countries, their people lived in peace, properity, & liberty but when Carter & Democrats helped bring anarchy, terror and the lost of all liberties to Iranians & Nicaraguans. Millions left to escape the horror. My Iranian friend confirmed what I always knew, Carter is to blame for 9/11.
The USSR invaded Afghanistan because we couldn't figure out a way to succesfully conduct a military rescue of 50 people from a compound, surrounded by 1000's of crazed protesters, in a busy city, using 70s technology? Where do you get this drivel? How do you possibly connect one with the other without looking like a moron? You dont!
And Carter was responsible for the gas shortage??? Even the most right-wing economists dont blame Carter. His response may have been less than adequate, but you imply he caused it or had any power to STOP it. He didnt.
And while you were so kind to list Habitat for Humanity as an accomplishment, you clearly forgot the Camp David Accords and the importance that treaty and Carters work in securing it has had in keeping the peace in the Middle East.
But your so-called article forgets the most important thing: Carter is only the SECOND worst President in modern times. BUSH is head-and-shoulders the worst president ever...
I make no judgment, simply stating the facts, something that Ron and this Examiner obviously don't worry much about.
As for other issues: First, quote Carter correctly. He never said ANYONE who opposes Obama is racist. He CORRECTLY said: an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man."
HUGE difference. Coming from someone who has attended a Tea Party and gets several emails a day about Obama being Satan, I 100% agree that those who show "intensly demonstrated animosity" against him are overwhelmingly racist. Get over it and be HONEST in your "reporting."
As for the Iran hostages, Id love a suggestion as to what should have been done. The correct answer is to trade rifles, rocket launchers, grenades, and other weapons to Iran in exchange for them. That's what Reagan did. How did giving Iranian extremist a military capability work out for us? Talk about that!
Wow.... have to say this article is horrible.
A quick history lesson for Ron and this Examiner who clearly don't know any: Panama was a province BELONGING TO Colombia in 1903. Congress AUTHORIZED a $40M payment, but "offered" COLOMBIA $10M. Colombias democratically-elected reps rejected the offer, demanding a bigger payment because they knew it was worth MUCH MORE. The US' response was to coordinate with a group of Panamanians to declare "independence" at the same time that US warships arrived. The US kept the Colombian Navy from quelling the uprising, and thus the US assisted in overthrowing Colombia's DEMOCRATICALLY-ELECTED government in Panama. A negotiater just happened to be available and the $10M (not $40M) purchase was negotiated. Colombia got screwed, lost their land, and the US saved $30M.
I make no judgment, simply stating the facts, something that Ron and this Examiner obviously don't worry much about.
Jorge,
Thanks so much for bringing a light of truth to this man's eyes. Maybe it will encourage him into taking a history lesson from a credible source, not just watching biased CNN or US- controlled institutions, where they say what is convenient. Ron, remember there is a side to each story and while, the US has assisted countries where tragedy has struck, it has only done so if their economic power was at risk. The whole situation with the Sandinistas and Somoza, it wasnt for pure love for Nicaraguans, it was because its fear that the Soviets could continue expanding its influence so close to home. I personally know Nicaraguans who lived through the 80s and believe they will tell you a different story from what the US and CNN and the New York Times wants to tell us. As a writer, you should learn to educate yourself so you can avoid sounding like an ass in front of so many people like you just did.
Reply to Jorge,
According to my hyperlink to the "History of the Panama Canal", read the following:
"The Senate approved the convention without change. The French company then closed the sale of its rights to the United States government for $40,000,000." In addition the amount paid to Panama after 1955 was $1,930,000 annually according to the link.
Needless to say it wasn't Jimmy Carter's canal and wasn't for him to give away. Aa for what he could have done about the hostages, we were a significant superpower then. I personally would have been more aggressive. We had the power to annihilate Iran. I believe they would have released the 50 rather then have there country destroyed. Why do you think they released them after Reagan came into office? They knew he wouldn't put up with their nonsense, nor the Soviet's.
Got something to say?
