Euskaltel-Euskadi, sometimes called Team Orange and more renowned for its singular focus as pro cycling's Basque team, is the second ProTour team to name its "long squad" for the 2010 Tour de France.
The Euskaltel-Euskadi squad will be led by captain Samuel Sánchez, who finished seventh overall in the 2008 Tour de France. He will be supported by Egoi Martinez, Rubén Pérez, Gorka Verdugo and Amets Txurrukam, who all rode with Sanchez in cycling's biggest race two years ago. Sanchez also finished second in this year's Tour of Spain.
Iñaki Isasi, Juanjo Oroz, Alan Pérez, Aitor Hernandez and Iban Velasco will compete for the final four spots on the nine-rider team. Isasi and Oroz were also part of Euskaltel's 2008 Tour team, while Pérez made his debut at this year's race.
Under-23 World Champion and ProTour debutant Romain Sicard, Koldo Fernandez de Larrea and former Fuji-Servetto rider Benat Intxausti are reserves.
Saxo Bank was the first squad to name its 2010 Tour de France long team.

James. Thank you for your articles and writing; always quick and informative. The title of this article led me initially to think that somehow Saxo and Euskaltel were joining forces in some kind of alliance. I now better understand 'long team'. I thought it unusual for a team to name their TdF squad this early.
Happy Holiday Season to you. Thank you again and please keep up the great work.
