Lance Armstrong is still on the hunt for an 8th Tour de France win, but he acknowledges that at age 38, it would be folly to build a team around him.
Speaking at the Team Radio Shack camp in Tucson, AZ on Tuesday, Armstrong told reporters that he is planning his second retirement after the 2011 season. Many are saying that Armstrong will be inevitably stronger in 2010, but the man himself says that chief rival Alberto Contador is …the biggest and best talent we have now, and maybe the biggest we’ve ever seen.”
In an interview with the French sporting newspaper L'Equipe, Contador tried to level expectations about his 2010 season, saying, “I am realistic and I know I have a weaker team than in previous years." He continued, "We know how we must work to succeed. I know that this season will be difficult and it is possible that (I will) not win the Tour (even if) I’m in good shape."
