After three previous attempts to hold the Koppenberg Circuit Race, the weather finally cooperated and the race went off. Originally planned for late March, every date was met with terrible weather forcing organizers to cancel the event. This past weekend the weather held out just long enough and the Koppenberg was on.

Held in Superior, Co., the 5.5 mile circuit featured 2.5 miles of bumpy, off cambered dirt roads. Testing the riders even further is the Koppenberg hill itself. With a 17% grade and 200 meters long, it is the defining section of the course. Riders struggled to find a ridable line and stay upright on this difficult part of the course. The rest of the course is paved and rolling.

Races ranged from 3 to 8 laps depending on the category. The Pro Men's event was won by Westley Gough, who beat out a strong field including Taylor Phinney and Scott Monniger. In the Pro Women's event, Beth Fisk was the first to cross the line. A full list of results can be found at www.americancycling.org.

The Koppenberg was also the final race in the Tour of Colorado Series. The series consisted of 7 races throughout Colorado and used a points system to determine the overall winner.
