Boulder resident Rory Sutherland is currently in a large group of riders just 27" back of race leader David Zabriskie. Sutherland, who rides for the United Healthcare team is a strong all around rider who can win in a variety of ways.
The Australian native won the National Racing Calendar overall title in 2007 and 2008, and is always in the front group. During the stage 3 climb up Bonny Doon Road Sutherland nearly kept in contact with the three man breakaway that sprinted to the finish and ended up fifth on the stage. The six year pro knows what it takes to be successful in stage racing having won several stage races in his career.
The United Healthcare team will look to keep Sutherland up front and hunt for a stage victory while keeping his high placing in the General Classification.
