Tokidoki. In Japanese it means sometimes. But for one Simone Legno, Tokidoki would take on a whole new meaning. One to be shared around the globe. A believer in the Tokidoki sensibilty, it may have been fate that brought Simone Legno to where he is today. And now after only 4 years since Tokidoki’s genesis, his brand has become synonymous with fashion and is also an icon worldwide…sometimes.
Just how popular is Tokidoki? Where should we begin? Well, there is the blog. There is also the “unofficial blog.” And there is also Simone Legno’s appearance at San Diego’s world-famous, Comic Con (short for Comic Convention). And YES, that is a COMIC-BOOK convention!
And then there are the purses. OH MY, the PURSES! It takes a lot of gusto for LeSportsac to take a chance with a relatively new Tokidoki brand. Some history. The first Tokidoki print was released in Spring of 2006, dubbed simply Tokidoki. This was later followed by additional new prints for each following season. But to all great things must come to an end. And as of this Winter of 2007, the love-affair between Tokidoki and LeSportsac finally ended.
If it weren’t for LeSportsac and the faith that they had with Simone Legno’s product, the spotlight that Tokidoki is in right now would be non-existent. Why? LeSportsac is a world brand. And lets just say that thanks to LeSportsac, Tokidoki is everywhere.
Tokidoki has established itself as a brand people want and despite not being able to purchase the newest prints in purses, Tokidoki has ventured beyond the clothing accessory boundaries. Now, you can find jewelry, skateboards, posters, a clothing line, the numerouse collaborations, the list goes on and on. Sometimes, it just works.
