Kentucky Wildcats face Wake Forest and tougher competition in NCAA Round Two

The Kentucky Wildcats easily beat the East Tennessee State Buccaneers 100-71 on day one in the first round of the NCAA.

Now, they are slated to play Wake Forest in the second round on Saturday, March 20 at 8:15 pm ET.

The Wildcats easily manhandled the ETSU Bucs and it was freshman Eric Bledsoe’s stellar performance including 29 points and 3 rebounds that helped them to get to the goal line.

Patrick Patterson added 22 and John Wall made 17 points.

ETSU’s Micah Williams led the Bucs with 19 points and 5 rebounds.

The Wildcats have listened and proved Coach John Calipari is right when he said his team is in the “survive and advance mode.”

Wake Forest, on the other hand, had their work cut out for them during their first round matchup against Texas. The Demon Deacons just squeaked past Texas 81-80 in overtime despite the fact that Texas had an 8 point lead in OT at one point.

It was Ishmael Smith’s jumper with just two seconds left in OT that put Wake Forest over Texas and the game to rest.

The Demon Deacons enjoyed their first NCAA tournament win since 2005 and it was also Coach Dino Gaudio’s first invitation to the dance.

As far as Kentucky goes, Ishmael Smith said, “We know Kentucky has a great team, but we’ll be ready to play.”

And ready to play they must be. According to the LVSC college basketball odds makers, the Kentucky Wildcats are coming in as a 9 point betting favorite with the over under coming in at 147.
