Royal Fig Catering creates a grand re-opening party fit for event divas and dignitaries

On a recent cool Austin night, Royal Fig Catering, run by husband and wife team Dan Stacy and Kristen Stacy, celebrated their new event/office space in Westlake  with a sumptuous grand re-opening party. The space is shared with two other talented Austin based event vendors, Stardust Pastry and Rojo Pictures. The guest list included Austin food bloggers, avid Austin foodies, and event professionals such as  Erin Collins (Clink), Cortney Zieky (BZ Events) and members of Red Velvet Events.

After entrusting their cars with the very capable Uptown Valet, well heeled revelers enjoyed a thoughtfully designed menu, an energetic photo booth by Rojo Pictures, spinning by DJ Chris Hanson and a magical dessert bar sprinkled with gold by Stardust Pastry.

Throughout the evening, servers circulated with passed hors d’oeuvres from a assiduously crafted menu that included micro bites of Crispy Pork Belly, Beef Carpaccio, Trio of Goat Cheese in Endive Cups, Braised Short Ribs in Yorkshire Pudding, Quail Scotch Eggs with Mustard, Smoked Parsnip Soup Shooters. A decadent cheese bar enticed taste buds with imported and local cheese selections. “I enjoy cooking with fresh seasonal ingredients in a variety of styles and cultivating my own vegetable and herb gardens,” shared Dan Stacy, the executive chef and co-owner of Royal Fig catering. 

Guests were encouraged to mingle in the vestibule and  "living area" but many drifted, as they often do in the South, to the kitchen where they watched in wonder as Chef Stacy prepared the evening's treats.

 Stacy has over ten years of catering and fine dining experience in Austin and New York. His cuisine pedigree was acutely refined while working under the tutelage of Chef Harold Dieterle, the winner of Top Chef Season One, at Dieterle’s West Village eatery, Perilla. While in New York, Stacy also designed meals for celebrities at the elite SoHo House members only hotel featured in Sex and The City. Prior to the relaunch party, his team hosted supper clubs in Austin and prepared a French inspired carte du jour for the premier party of the Sundance Channel’s Man Shop Club, a show set in France.

 

 

Chef Stacy's wife and business partner, Kristen Stacy, is the director of special events and a self described food enthusiast who is experienced in marketing and sales. Her background includes expanding arts-in-education programs in Austin and New York and organizing fundraisers, workshops, and weddings.

 

Together, this dynamic duo hopes to bring a taste of sustainable succulence to Austin events and weddings.
