John Lennon Peace Crater on Moon named on same day NASA bombs Moon, Lennon's birthday

The International Lunar Geographic Society announced today that a crater on the Moon has been renamed to honor John Lennon today, his birthday.  The crater, located in the Moon’s Lacus Somniorum (“Lake of Dreams”) district, has been named the John Lennon Peace Crater. It measures approximately six kilometers in diameter, with a depth of about 990 meters.

The strange “coincidence” is that today is also the day that some lunatics at NASA chose to drop a bomb on the South Pole of the Moon. War or peace?  As Bucky Fuller said, “Weaponry or livingry?”   Or as John Lennon wrote, “All we are saying is give peace a chance.”

So, let’s stop bombing everything and start building livingry for the benefit of all sentient beings.   Happy birthday, John.

The International Lunar Geographic Society, previously known as the Lunar Republic Society, advocates privatized exploration, settlement and development of Earth’s Moon.  On their website the Lunar Registry Society offers land plots on the moon for sale.  Not somewhere I’d care to move given humans’ need to bomb it.

May we all honor John Lennon by giving peace a chance, again and again and again.

    John Lennon rocks. He needs even more acknowledgment. He is the Man in the Moon.

    Of course, you realize that the "International Lunar Geographic Society" doesn't have any official standing in naming things on the Moon, right?

    It's ridiculous that everyone keeps saying that the moon was BOMBED! sure NASA dropped some ships there yesterday, but that is in no way an actual topic to get riled up over. I mean come on! they did this to discover more about the moon. sure some of you may say they're hiding the actual purpose for doing this, but does it matter. If they were actually planning to literally bomb the moon, then sure there is a meaning for us to complain but they aren't so just get over it. At least they are looking or a possible place for us to inhabit if we end up destroying Earth because practically all of us are to closed to the idea of cutting back on A/C on those hot summer days, using recycled shopping bags, or whatever!

    Did anyone ever hear of the International Astronomical Union? It's the offical organization that applies names to celestial bodies not the International Lunar Geographic Society.

    This is incredibly ironic... who coulda planned that? Thanks for pointing it out! ~ I was shocked and stunned to learn the news that we would be "bombing" the moon?! To me, it was a blatent demonstration of being outrageously out of touch! I am certain the spiritual world - and the indigenous physical world - had to be completely "shaking its head at" the density, and sort of barbaric nature, of this crazy event that showed total disregard for the unknown... and the sacredness of life. Sad... but reaffirms, we gotta uplift "the whole" of humanity, not just a few. Big Prayers for those who do not understand the sacred nature of life in all forms.

    I noticed that you ran an article on your Examiner Website regarding John Lennon being honoured on the Lunar Surface by way of a "Peace crater" being named after him.

    The International Astronomical Union, which is responsible for officially assigning Planetary Surface Nomenclature has not listed this piece of news.

    You can check the IAU/WGPSN Planetary Gazetteer and enter "LENNON", and you will find that he is not listed officially at;

    planetarynames.wr.usgs.gov/

    The best bet for JOHN LENNON would be the planet MERCURY, where BACH, MOZART, and other Musical Composers, and writers have been named.

    Best of Regards,
