Champlain Bridge demolished AP Photo
The Champlain Bridge used to span the gap between Crown Point, New York and Addison, Vermont, but today it was blown up. Because it was snowing in the area, visibility wasn’t great, but the video of the explosion is impressive. The 80-year old bridge was 2,184 feet long.
The Champlain Bridge was closed October 16 when it was ruled unsafe, It took over 800 pounds of explosives to demolish it. A new Champlain Bridge will open the summer of 2011.
