City Parks Foundation’s SummerStage in East River Park in partnership with Transportation Alternatives, has announced that free bike valet service will be offered for the first time in its 25 years. On Wednesday, August 4th, the free service will be launched at a free East River Park concert featuring freestyle pioneers, Judy Torres (Come Into My Arms, Love Story, I Love You, Will You Love Me and No Reason To Cry) , George Lamond (Bad of the Heart) and DJ Lucho.
Leave your car at home. Forget the train and cabs. Ride your bicycle on a warm summer night, then simply hand your bike over to a valet. The valet works just like a coat check – drop off your bike, take a ticket, and enjoy the show. The service will be offered through 13 days of free music, dance, and theater.

“As the SummerStage programs have grown in geographic reach, we’ve recognized the need to promote the use of public and bike transportation. With cycling on the rise in NYC, greenways play an important role in creating a bicycle and pedestrian friendly environment" says City Parks Foundation Catalyst Coordinator, Karen Overton. "Bicycle parking is an important piece of this equation. We are excited that the bike valet program will offer cyclists the convenience of taking in superior performing arts programs while supporting and exploring the East River Park Waterfront.”
City Parks Foundation is the only independent, not-for-profit organization offering programs throughout New York’s five boroughs. Working in over 750 parks, the foundation offers arts, sports, and education programs.
