Backstage Pass: A Sweeping History of Rock and Roll returns to the Old Mint on 5th Street (between Market and Mission) for a few days beginning Thursday night, July 16 from 5:00 to 9:00 PM and then Friday through Sunday from noon to 5:00 PM.
The show features more than 100 reproductions of Fillmore posters, videos and photographs from the mid-sixties to the near-present. The original stage door from Winterland is also there for all of you with a creative imagination or the ability to summon the past from inanimate objects.
It's pretty interesting to see who opened for whom back in the day, as well as the way rock culture changed (or didn't) over the years.
It's also a great opportunity to get inside the Mint and roam around. The building still has many of the original vault doors in the basement and a lot of ambiance.
It's $10 to get in, with the proceeds going to SFMHS education programs and facilities.
