At 9pm on Thursday, March 4, the Guggenheim Museum will open its doors for a special performance. Entitled TRANSVERSE TEMPORAL GYRUS this project marks the fruitful collaboration between the acclaimed music group Animal Collective and the artist Danny Perez.
Site-specifically created in celebration of the museum’s 50th anniversary, this performance piece promises to transform the museum’s rotunda into an otherworldly, kinetic, and somewhat psychedelic environment. Original recorded music and video projections will further aid in veiling costumed performers in layers of visual abstractions. Visitors will be encouraged to roam about the famous Frank Lloyd Wright building freely in order to fully immerse themselves in this astonishing one night only spectacle.
