Love is in the air — and a flight attendant, with passion red on his head, serves dinner.
One hundred singles from North America joined the the world’s first Matchmaking Flight. They boarded the Air New Zealand flight in Los Angeles, California, and flew to Auckland, New Zealand. On board they ate chocolate-dipped strawberries and drank strawberry-spiked champagne.
This was nothing like your usual international flight. In place of grumbling and discomfort, there were party games and icebreakers. The cabin crew dressed for the occasion in Matchmaking Flight T-shirts. Some wore flashing lip pins. There were red feather boas. One wore a red hat. The flight concierge wore Elton John-style pink heart-shaped glasses. Love and passion with humor.
The game “two lies and a truth” drew a bunch of contestants. I found myself sitting next to the winner of a contest to see who could get the most names and phone numbers in a little book with the logo “How far will you go to find The One?” A bunch of people shared their worst date experiences. (Hear and see journalist Mike on video here, to get a flavor.)
Jason ‘The Bachelor’ Mesnick and partner Molly Malaney gave dating tips. (Hear and see them on video here.)
In Auckland, 130 New Zealand singles awaited the U.S. contingent. Many had been connecting for months via a Matchmaking Flight website.

What a flight! That there were all that much fun. Wishing I had gone...
This was a great idea from the PR department here. I'll check back later to see if the top photo is there. The caption is quite a teaser.
I'm having such a blast reading about this crazy event and watching the videos as Wanda makes her way through this amazingly exotic/erotic (maybe?) trip. I wish I had gone along. I can't wait to read the next one.
I think you mean AUCKLAND---Adelaide is in Australia!
Thanks, Kay Of course I did. Appreciated. And the photo loading tool at Examiner wasn't working when I posted this morning, which is why the photo was missing. But now it's back up. So we have the picture and we are in Auckland!
