Originally reported as what appeared to be an isolated incident, robbery at gunpoint of cruise line passengers on shore excursions in the Bahamas may happen more often than we know.
Carly Milne, one of the victims in the incident reported, believes "the Bahamian authorities are trying to keep a lid on what's happening because they fear devastating the tourism industry" she told us today. Far from isolated, Milne told us "there were three robberies including our own on that day alone" and she wonders "how long will it be until cruise lines decide Nassau will no longer be a port of call until they clean up their act, and the Consulate issues a travel advisory?"
"Americans from a cruise ship, feared for their lives as they were held up" reported The Tribune back in October.
Milne, in an article for AOL travel said "Two men stepped out of the bushes dressed in black combat gear, each wielding a large shotgun." and that "my experience is no longer an anomaly in Nassau - it's the norm"
