A Hillsborough County firefighter has been charged with exposure of sex organs after exposing himself
by a public school. Julio Colon was arrested yesterday and faces two charges resulting from two separate incidents. In both encounters, Colon exposed himself. The first incident took place on July 29, 2009 outside of the Challenger School, located at 13400 Elgin Blvd. Spring Hill, Fl. 34609. The victim, who remains unidentified, witnessed a blue Chevrolet drive in the school bus area. The victim, a male, heard the suspect yell the word, “Hey,” in an attempt to capture the victim’s attention. When the victim turned around, he witnessed the suspect standing completely nude. The suspect, Julio Colon, continued to call out but the victim ran to the front of the school building. During an interview, Colon confessed to the incident and faces one charge of exposure of sex organs for the crime.
The second incident took place on September 11, 2009. Colon is accused of following a 16 year old girl with his car as she was walking home and calling out to her. The girl had been walking on U.S. 41 and states that the suspect pulled the car off the road and was parked near the fairgrounds. He called out to her and she witnessed the suspect jumping up and down naked alongside his car; before he left the vicinity, the victim was able to get his license plate number. She later identified his photo with detectives.
Colon worked as a Hillsborough County fire medic. He has been placed on administrative leave without pay. The investigation into Colon’s activities is ongoing. During the police interview, Colon told authorities that he gets a rush when exposing himself in public. He also admitted to exposing himself in other situations.
