Wondering how you can donate to help the woman set on fire by her husband? Audrey Mabrey is only 26 years old. She is the mother of two small children, and according to reports, she wanted to leave her abusive husband. Like many other woman, she felt trapped and is if she had no way out.
Audrey Mabrey and her husband’s marriage was rocky. Though details are slim and the investigation is ongoing, Audrey Mabrey already fits the profile of many battered women. Police responded to a domestic abuse situation at her home on October 20, 2009. It was alleged that her husband had been violent with her and tried to rape her. Though police wanted to press charges, Tampa prosecutors closed the case after Audrey’s unwillingness to prosecute her husband. Without her testimony against him, there is little the state can do, especially if there are no injuries or witnesses.
That isn’t the case now.
This beautiful, young 26 year old woman who should be looking to her future with her two young children is lying in Tampa General Hospital in critical condition. Burns cover over 80% of her body. Her estranged husband will be prosecuted, this time.
While Audrey Mabrey fights for her life, not to become another statistic of Tampa Bay’s domestic violence fatalities, her parents are struggling to get enough money to come to Tampa and help out. They are in Texas. And she has children, two small to know what is going on, but old enough to be aware that mommy isn’t there- old enough to feel the impact of domestic violence and abuse, and first-degree attempted murder.
Audrey Mabry worked at Chili’s in Brandon, Florida, located at 1949 W. Brandon Blvd. She worked there for three years; she had a beautiful, radiant smile and dreams for her future. She wanted to become a teacher, she attended school at Hillsborough Community College, and now her classmates try to make sense of such irrational violence.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are only weeks away, Chili’s Dallas corporate office said they will donate Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners for the Mabreys, meanwhile Audrey clings on to the fragile thread of life. Her friends, family, and strangers pray for her recovery, pray that she will be reunited with her children, finish school, and see her dream of becoming a teacher. Her parents should be with her.
A trust fund has been established for Audrey Mabrey and her children. If you’d like to donate, all you have to do is go to your nearest Bank of America and tell them you want to donate to the Audrey Mabrey and Children fund.

oh gee he needs to rot in hell wow you guys don't even know the whole story and believe me she is not the angel she seems to be... its tragic what happened to her i would not wish it on any one,but get your fact straight...i believe the truth will come out when the real trail begins....the real victims are the children and the family not her or him....this is the outcome when you push a person to the edge of insanity... but i don't condom this behavior !!!!! INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY !!!!
Nothing excuses lighting someone on fire which causes 80% of their body. What part of NOTHING do you not understand??? Not innocent until proven guilty. GUILTY BEYOND A DOUBT.
Learn how to spell Florida 2009.
Guilty! Doesn't matter if she was an angel or not she was a human who was suppose to be loved and cared for not set on fire. Truth has begin he set her on fire. Real Victims Aubrey and her kids and her family.
I have to agree that there is NOTHING that would excuse lighting someone on fire. Especially, not someone that is the MOTHER of your babies. If you are so unhappy with that person LEAVE. Seriously. That is so beyond sick it is unfathomable.
*studiously ignores the troll who needs to be thrown into a lion's den until they learn what constitutes proper behavior in this society, such as IF YOU ARE UNHAPPY IN A MARRIAGE YOU LEAVE, NOT SET YOUR WIFE ON FIRE*
I hate to see people report on cases like this like the state has its hands tied in a DV case. That's not true. The real problem is that this woman's home state does not have a law REQUIRING the police to make an arrest in a DV case even if the alleged victim does not press charges, and REQUIRING the court to prosecute even if the victim recants. Several states have such a law and there is precedent--we already prosecute for murder cases even though the victim *cannot* speak for themselves. To imply that the poor widdle state couldn't do nothing cuz the mean old DV victim wouldn't press charges is to take deserved blame away from the state legislature which ought to be passing harsher laws to deal with this cultural scourge. Audrey wouldn't be burned now.
I will say I'm willing to bet florida 2009 is involved with the husband, either in friendship or relationship-on-the-side; you'd be amazed how many wife-batterers get a little somethin-somethin going and then accuse their spouse of infidelity to cover their own guilt and excuse the abuse.
I say all this because I've seen it a million times. No matter what a guy does that is reprehensible, some woman will always stand up for him. Usually it's a woman who has the hots for him. Serial killers have groupies who write to them in prison, even. For crying out loud--it could have been you beaten up. Grow a spine and quit standing up for sociopaths who don't deserve it. Nobody wants to stand up for actual victims--truth be told our culture finds them more than a little pathetic. It takes a lot more guts to go against the flow than with it.
The other possibility is it's a male friend who's smacked a few women around himself. I have words to say in that case too: they're unprintabl
No matter how far you are pushed as a person, you do not retaliate in a way that causes injury or death.
It's about self control, and sadly these days most of our society lacks it
