Child pornography bust results in teacher's resignation; images contained bestiality and toddlers

Child pornography bust leads to teacher's resignation

A Kings High School teacher resigned today after he was arrested on Wednesday on child pornography charges. Aaron Sands, a 41-year-old teacher was visited by US Marshals at this home on 1441 Highland Ridge Circle in Brandon, Florida. Thirty six child porn images were found on Sands’ laptop computer.

What might be as equally disturbing as knowing that a teacher has child pornography, may be the fact that some of the images depicted children as young as two years old engaging in sexual activities. One image suggested bestiality, court records say. According to court records, the images are described as being sexually explicit and consisting of young girls with adult men.

According to reports, Aaron Sands told authorities as he was being arrested, “I don't know what is wrong with me."

Hillsborough County spokesman Steve Hegarty stated that they school officials went to Sands home to tell him not to return to work. Aaron Sands resigned. Sands had taught in the International Baccalaureate Program at King, working in the magnet program. There have been no allegations of inappropriate behavior between Sands and students in the school. Sands had previously worked for schools in both Polk and Pasco counties.

Aaron Sands was arrested and taken to the Pinellas County Jail on December 3, he is being held on a U.S. Marshal hold and his bond has been set at $25,000. The arrest was part of the Operation Predator nationwide child pornography effort. According to reports, officials from Immigration and Customs Enforcement met Sands at his house. Upon questioning, Aaron Sands admitted to having the child porn and told agents where the images were located on his laptop.

Aaron Sands faces up to ten years in federal prison if convicted. Operation Predator is credited with more than 11,000 arrests nationwide.

As a former student of his, my fellow classmates and I always assumed something was up with Mr. Sands.... Just not to this extreme.

I don't know one person who thought something was up with Mr. Sands. I know students who have known him, and I have known him myself; There was absolutely nothing to assume.

This is so gross. Sadly, I think a day is coming when we won't be able to say anything to anybody about their sexual habits even if they are predatory, since Tampa City Council passed that Gender Identity ordinance. thanks for exposing this.

Aaron has some good qualities. He will have a judge and jury here on this earth and let them decide exactly what he is/is not guilty of. In his next life, I pray that his heart and his mind will have healed and God will have reasons to forgive him.

I grew up with Aaron as a child, went to college with him, and feel that I know him as well as anyone can. This is a very disturbing portrayal of a 'not bad at all' guy. I cannot understand why Aaron would allow his imagination, fantasy, and intrigue slip to this level; but I can promise on my word that no child he ever had a direct relationship was ever in harms way. That being said, there is no excuse for supporting on-line child porn, which victimizes innocent people at the expense of other people's twisted sexual desires. Aaron needs a 'time out', then hopefully, after some personal growth, a 'time in'. I have faith in this person, fully!
