Disabled SUV Stolen From Issaquah Amputee

ISSAQUAH - An Issaquah woman is dealing with the loss of her SUV after it was stolen this weekend. Lori McPhetridge lost her foot and most of her lower leg 18 months ago and this was her only way of getting around. McPhetridge says, "We couldn't believe it was gone and now it's the worry about are we gonna get it back and if not where are we gonna get the money to get something else."

The past two years haven't been easy for McPhetridge. She lost her job and her health insurance to a bad economy, then she lost her leg to diabetes in 2008. She has a prosthetic now but her SUV was her only way to get out and take care of herself.

McPhetridge says, "I can walk a little ways, but not long distances so if we have to get anywhere we have to use a rig." Her rig was a dark blue 1993 Toyota 4Runner with disabled license tag 98714DP and a Dallas Cowboy license frame.

McPhetridge says, "For one thing, it's our only vehicle and we had to get it because it's high enough off the ground so I don't have trouble getting in and out of it." She has to remove her leg to get in and out of a small car.

The SUV was stolen from a parking spot right in front of Lori's apartment. It was there late Thursday night, gone early Friday morning. There were no witnesses, no broken glass, nothing. It was just gone. Because of overwhelming medical bills, McPhetridge only had liability insurance and has no way to replace it.

She just wants to get her truck back, and her life back. No questions asked. McPhetridge says, "It's the best transportation we've had and I would really like to know where it's at so we can get it back. I need to be able to go where I need to go without the struggle."

If you've seen the stolen SUV please call 911.
