Woman struck, hurt, while riding bicycle in Vista

A 62-year-old woman is recovering from injuries after being struck by a motorist while riding her bicycle in Vista on Wednesday.

The unidentified woman was riding southbound in the 2000 block of S. Melrose Drive around 9:30 a.m.

She was outside the bike lane, which was under repair, San Diego County Sheriff's Deputy D. Washington said.

A 35-year-old man in a truck traveling in the same direction sideswipe the woman, Washington said.
The impact of the collision knocked the woman from her bike. She suffered a head injury and possibly fractured arm.

Vista paramedics transported the woman to Palomar Hospital for treatment.

Authorities with the Vista Traffic Division are investigating the incident.
