A 24-year-old woman suffered minor injuries after losing her purse during a strong-arm robbery outside a mall in Carlsbad Tuesday night, Carlsbad police said.
The woman told police she had just left the Plaza Camino Real mall on the northeast side around 9:30 p.m. when she was approached by two females in a white, late model Ford Mustang.
The passenger, a Latino female in her early 20s, left the car and approached the victim on foot, asking for a cigarette.
The suspect suddenly grabbed the victim's and returned to the car.
The victim ran after her and began struggling with the suspect through the open car door, in an effort to retrieve her purse.
During the struggle, the driver, a white female, accelerated, pulling away from the victim and running over her foot.
The victim had minor injuries but declined medical treatment. The Mustang, white in color, was last seen heading east toward El Camino Real.
Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact Lt. Cain at the Carlsbad Police Department Investigations Division during regular business hours at 760-931-2166.
