There are a few, painfully simple measures we could take to stop the current invasion and expel those who have no respect for our borders, nor for our citizens. Truthfully, if any combination or even one of the following actions were taken by our federal government, most illegal aliens in this country would leave, effectively deporting themselves.
1) Place the military on the border.
Rather than sending a few hundred National Guardsmen to the 2,000 mile-long border under orders to never stop anyone entering this country illegally, the way President George Bush did, if say 20,000 troops along with their tanks, helicopters, and U.S. Air Force over flights were utilized along the border (the same way we do for other countries), illegal entries would come to a screeching halt.
We could simply take the troops from Germany, where 30,000 U.S. troops are stationed or any number of other locations around the world and use our military to protect our border!
The Mexican border could and should be made a permanent duty station. This would allow the Border Patrol to full staff the official entry checkpoints which would greatly reduce the amount of drugs and criminals coming into this country.
2) Prison sentences for CEO’s who hire illegal aliens.
Whether it is a landscaping company run-out of someone’s den in Cicero, IL; a 30-unit independent hotel in Virginia Beach, VA; or a corporate giant such as Tyson Foods Inc., once caught with illegal aliens in their employ, the head of that company should spend the next ten years of their life in prison.
Additionally, a percentage of that company’s profits commensurate to the percentage of their employees who are illegal aliens should be seized.
3) Cut off all federal funds to cities which continue or adopt ‘sanctuary policies’ for illegal aliens.
If a city such as Chicago, IL which has such a policy in place, refuses to cooperate with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement by not allowing police officers to inquire into, nor report the immigration status of arrestees, shielding criminal aliens from notification and eventual deportation, their funds will be immediately suspended. No more federal money for roads, schools, no special grants, no construction projects funded with federal money…Nothing.
Only once all municipal agencies in that city are found to be in compliance, will federal funds be restored.
4) Require anyone registering a child in a public school to provide proof of U.S. citizenship.
Illegal aliens have been getting a free education for their children on the backs of American taxpayers for far too long. The practice has led to overcrowded classrooms, and ‘English as a second language’ courses in all of the border states.
The amount of money spent per child in public school annually varies from state to state, as well as district to district. However, it averages several thousands of dollars per child. Why should American taxpayers be subsidizing the families of illegal aliens?
If parents were required to provide proof of citizenship to register the child, many illegal aliens would simply leave the country. You take away the things that draw them here and most will deport themselves.
The state of California is now bankrupt largely due to years of allowing Mexicans to illegally move their families to the state. Overwhelmed with Spanish-only speaking children, they can no longer provide a decent education for American children.
5) Begin mass deportations.
Again, if you take away the goodies (jobs, free education, in-state college tuition, food stamps, Medicaid, etc.), most will return to Mexico on their own. However, there will remain a number of Mexican nationals who will refuse to leave, a great many of them will be hardcore criminals (gang bangers, drug dealers, etc.). These human predators will only return home, if forcibly removed.
We have heard so many times that it is “impossible to deport 12 million people.” First, the number of illegal aliens in this country is closer to 40 million, second, nothing is impossible.
As I said, most will leave after they are denied the services which they now steal with ease. The rest would be deported upon arrest for other crimes.
This is the same nation which defeated both Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan. This is the same nation which invented the airplane and the telephone. And, this is the same nation that can do anything which we choose to do.
We have the infrastructure, resources, and the right to deport as many illegal aliens from this nation as we want. The only thing we are lacking is a federal government with the courage to do it. We must change that and take back this great country.
If we do not, future generations of Americans will reside in a Third World nation, and it will be a mirror image of Mexico.

I hope your article is on the desk in the Oval Office. The only think I'd add is the abolition of the misinterpreted 14th amendment. It was never intended to bestow our most precious birthright - citizenship - on criminals - and they ALL are from the ones who waltz across the border to the drunken illegal who maims or kills innocent people. Dave is right about the illegal alien population and the availability of "social services", for them. It is an abomination that social services paid for by long time American taxpayers are given to illegal alien foreign nationals, but it's also what keeps them here. You cannot have six to whatever amount of children when there are no social services available. In California those social services paid for by the California citizens are gold plated compared to other states. Illegal aliens have usurped them for years. Those with anchor babies are eligible for services. Don't believe the evil liberals who know better, but lie and tell people that illegal aliens can't access services. Okay, for those who don't really know or have knowledge about these things, let me slowly explain so that you can understand....
Without a social security number or tax identification number, workers of any flavor DO NOT PAY TAXES. The only way an illegal immigrant can pay taxes is by providing a stolen or made up social security number. The employers should be looking every single ss# up before the prospective employee is hired.
Okay, so say the illegal immigrant provides a fake SS#, true, taxes do come out of the pay check. VERY TRUE. However, the illegal immigrant is breaking the law by claiming an extraordinary amount of tax deductions, so he/she may not pay any FICA taxes, but SS and medicare taxes are still taken out. TAX deductions can't reduce the amount of SS or medicare taxes on the pay check.
SO, now we come to the end of the year. The government says, "if you want to become legal, then you must file your taxes for so many years. We want you to show that you

You sound like a La Raza representative. A key talking point of theirs is to associate the words "fear" and "hate" to anybody who is opposed to illegal immigration. First, I don't "hate" foreign lawbreakers any more or less than I "hate" American lawbreakers. A lawbreaker is a lawbreaker in my book. One thing I saw the Brown Berets do, and that they're really good at, is physically attacking old Americans who protest at illegal immigration rallies. What a sorry bunch of losers they are. They attacked another guy when he wasn't looking with a brick. Just plain cowards, as are the mainly Democratic liberals who support them in their criminality. In another country these fools would be locked up and the key thrown away.
The jobs that 10 million Americans lost are in the white collar industry sector (finance, car industry, sales, ect) not in the agriculture, janitor, produce, meat processor plants sector. So deporting 12 million illegals is nonsense, since they don't work where the job market loss is located. Not all illegals are crossing the border or have fake ssn. We don't know who is illegal and who is not, so if we control air, sea and land borders, have a better immigration policy placed, get the undocumented/ overstay persons to come out of the shadows, pay a fine, learn english if they don't speak it (some are from Puerto Rico (U.S. Commonwealth) who don't speak english cause they refuse to speak it in Florida) and other policies in place, then in the future we can start this biometric card system. An ID card that proves that everyone belongs here in U.S.

I think to better understand the problem, and to better develop solutions, remember that this is not a US-only problem. The US is what they call a 'first world' country. Well, they used to. We've got borders like any other country. Passports and visas are not something just dreamed up yesterday, it's time to use them, long since past time to use them, they serve a purpose, if you go abroad as an American, you have to have one, so.....what's the confusion in reverse, here? Travel/tourist visa, work visa, whatever visa, we really aren't splitting the atom, here. The whole time I lived in Germany was under a residency permit stamp in my....PASSPORT. So, I know the bureaucratic technology exists, question is, will we see its' successful implementation and utilization in this country, in our lifetimes?
I had another thought to add, when are we going to address Mexico and other countries of origin directly on the issue? Arresting people is kind of like cleaning up the cafeteria after everyone leaves, if you close the cafeteria unless people start cleaning up after themselves, then it's a lot less work.
Mexico needs to become a stand-up country, not a place that people actively seek to escape from, which is why so many of their citizens are basically all but trying to form their own country within our borders or whatever's going on, at any rate, it has to do with how BAD Mexico has gotten, not necessarily how GOOD the United States is, because we've got our own problems here, too, which are inflamed and made worse by letting millions more people move in en masse from anywhere, Mexico included. As the unemployment numbers tick up, and the government benefits shut down, people will be moving home...12+% unemployment, just in Oregon...9.5% nationwide...depression, here we come...

The U.S. deported several million illegal aliens two different times in the 20th Century, by two different Presidents. We can certainly deport several million again now. As the author says, if we start enforcing the laws and deporting now, many will self-deport.
