Forty-two year old Shane Fletcher pleaded guilty yesterday to criminal mischief in connection with his illegally placing a GPS tracking device on a high school coach’s personal vehicle. The tracking device was found by Thibodeaux Police after the victim complained that he was being “stalked”. Fletcher is a ranking detective with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
It is alleged that the tracking device was placed there by a state trooper at the request of local businessman, sixty year old John Ledet, Jr. The state trooper, Travis “Bucky” Colombel may face similar charges and is under investigation by the Louisiana State Police. John Ledet, Jr. has been charged as a principal to criminal mischief. He owns several businesses in Raceland and Houma. He will appear in court on March 12th. Ledet and the coach, Shane Trosclair, apparently have had some differences that may stem from Trosclair’s decision to not allow Ledet’s son to play baseball at E. D. White High School. Police were called to the school on at least one occasion in the past six months for an altercation involving the elder Ledet and Trosclair.
Fletcher entered the guilty plea in Lafourche Parish District Court, after which he was fined $100.00 and ordered to pay court costs. An internal investigation is reportedly being conducted by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.
