Stephanie Birkitt, the woman who once lived with the man accused of attempting to extort David Letterman, has been identified as one of the women with whom the talk show host had a sexual affair, according to TMZ.

Birkitt was Letterman’s former assistant and lived with Robert Halderman until August. According to TMZ, Halderman obtained Birkitt’s diary, which contained photos and letters that incriminated Letterman.

TMZ also reports that Birkitt and Letterman's sexual affair ended prior to 2003, when Letterman’s son was born.

Birkitt currently works on CBS' ‘Late Show’ hosted by Letterman, but had worked briefly for the same network's true-crime show ’48 Hours,’ where Halderman was a producer.

Letterman married his long-time partner, Regina Lasko in March. The two have been together since 1986, and have a 6-year-old son named Harry.

Birkitt made regular appearances on the ‘Late Show,’ sometimes using the pseudonym ‘Vicki.’ See video of Birkitt’s appearances below:

I think Letterman took the high road. As long as the relationship was consensual and not a condition of employment, then who cares?

Good article. Hope the guy gets what he deserves.

Well, Mr. Willoughby, perhaps Mr. Letterman's Fiance cared? Or do we wealthy Lords still claim our rights of chattel under English kings? Hmmm?

Mr. Letterman knows nothing of what you laughingly call the 'high road'. If he did he wouldn't be taking lovers on the side. He cares about money and audience numbers (which is back to money again.) Oh, and power. He cares about power. Additionally, to let one blackmailer succeed would set a very ugly precedent. He said he was scared. I'll be he was, the pompous little ass. His wife should ditch the little liar and take half. Find a man she can trust.

all the crap on his show that isn't funny... is funny if you are in on the 'inside joke'.... yea, making fun of a mistress' ex-boyfriend. That's funny stuff. I never have understood what everyone has seen in him, he's ugly and not funny. Must be well hung
