Mitrice Richardson, 24, of Los Angeles left the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station in the early morning hours of Sept. 17. She had been arrested for not paying a restaurant tab and possessing a small amount of pot, and has been missing since she left the station.
Mitrice was arrested on the evening of Sept. 16 at Geoffrey’s Restaurant in Malibu, Calif. Allegedly, Mitrice failed to pay her bill and possessed less than an ounce of marijuana, which are both misdemeanor charges according to The Acorn, a local newspaper.
Her car had been impounded so Mitrice had no means of transportation upon release from the sheriff’s station at about 1 a.m.
Mitrice’s mother, Latice Sutton said her 90-year-old grandmother had tried to pay Mitrice’s restaurant bill over the phone, but the restaurant refused because she was unable to fax a signed receipt to them. Sutton attempted to pay the bill, but Mitrice had already been arrested.

Sutton said “I told the deputy it was uncharacteristic of my daughter to go places and not pay a bill. She’s responsible… She’s normally the designated driver.”
Mitrice is pursuing a doctorate degree in clinical psychology and recently graduated from a California state university with a 4.0 grade-point average. She is also bilingual and volunteers her time with nonprofit organizations.
Mitrice’s father, Michael Richardson, said a number of witnesses at the restaurant said his daughter was disoriented and reports indicate she may have been speaking gibberish, even claiming she was from another planet.
Her family believes she may have been experiencing some sort of mental crisis or was under the influence of drugs or alcohol, therefore, authorities should have kept her under surveillance for a longer period of time.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, Steve Whitmore, said Mitrice was given the option to obtain transportation and was offered the opportunity to spend the night at the station, but she refused. “She wanted to be released,” said Whitmore.

Are you calling ME ignorant and stupid? Look at her myspace. She is sssssssssss"engaged" as a lesbian to one woman, and carrying on an affair with another one. It appears she is getting drug shipments in the mail and photographing them. She has a straw up her nose in one photo, ready for cocaine. She has posed in various hooker costumes. She appears to be employed as a lesbian sex act of some sort. She appears to be engaged in imprisonment games with her lovers and may be kept in some sort of box that she refers to. She was planning a secret trip to Vegas. She also is delusional about going to the White House and influencing the president. Her parents want to sue the police for millions, claiming racism. It sounds like someone is lying or exxaggerating about her academic credentials -- the woman can barely spell. She was most likely picked up by one of her lesbian lovers and taken someplace. I am smart enough to see reality for what it is -- and I am stupid?

Kiddos, I am checking the facts and they come up as a person who is not in any PhD program, far from being an honors student, and is leading a really risky lifestyle involving all kinds of things that "good girls" or law-abiding citizens do not do. The family is gunning toward suing the police and trying to falsely build up the image of their daughter. It could be the parents were unaware that their daughter was involved in all this - maybe she was lying to them and they believed. If they want to find her, they need to look in places and among people where she is likely to be found. It does no good to keep on lying about her activities and behaviors.

And those costumes....NOT a lesbian SEX act -- it's called a show....you know, when people do choreography to music. And for Christ's sake, I have friends who KNOW her and can validate she just recently graduated. For you to be so disrespectful and judgmental is just sad. I hope she comes back home safely.
It is about looking in the likely places to find her. She is not going to be found at the library studying. She is likely to be found where other people are found who have straws up their noses, for whatever purpose they have those straws up their noses.

Yes you do sound ignorant from your comments. Seems you have gone into this missing girls background in order to justify her being missing. Are you suggesting that we should not be concerned about the safety of this young female because she might be a lesbian and/or on drugs and because she misspelled a word? You are a heartless human being. The concern right now shold not be who's at fault, it should be finding this person whether she is dead or alive to give her fammily peace of mind. I get it that you are the same person posting under all different names to try to sound as if many agree with you. But the points are this: An adult woman (not a girl) is missing. She was a college student a while back, but not an honors student and is certainly not a PhD candidate. And yes, she was caught with drugs and yes, there is quite a bit on her myspace that looks like she is a regular abuser of drugs -- and also that she is proud to depict herself that way to the world. She is the one that has chosen the photos of herself apparently stoned, of the apparent drug deliveries, of the herself in a coke-snorting pose, etc. These photos were not placed there by me, who does not even know her. She chose this image for herself. And she also chose the photos of herself dressed in different sleazy sex costumes. This is how she is PROUD to be seen by the world.
Continued: You ask if I think Mitrice should be found. I think parents of troubled adults often do try to locate them and do try to get them into drug rehab or mental hospitals, etc. Legally, it is almost impossible for parents to force their adult children into treatments. And -- Police and public agencies have no money or authority to track down adults who are troubled but doing what they want. California streets are full of such people. Often, the first contact with authorities is when the troubled adult commits a crime -- as was the case with Mitrice, who was arrested for theft and drug possession at the Malibu restaurant. I DO hope her parents can find her and can coax her into getting the help she needs (rehab/ psych), help get her to court on her criminal charges, and help her move on to better days.

Pam, your comments are extremely abusive and ignorant. The point was not whether Matrice graduated from college -- the question is whether she is enrolled as a PhD Candidate -- which she is not. The issue arose because this Examiner article said she was a PhD student.
There is nothing "bigoted" in sticking to reality.
The issue is not whether she is worth finding -- of course, she is worth finding. The POINT is that her family is threatening to sue the police for losing track of her. The family is trying to falsely buffer her accomplishments, not to find her, but to boost their claim for a lawsuit. So instead of saying they are looking for their drug addicted, sexually promiscuous daughter, which is accurate, they say she is an honors grad PhD student -- which she is not.
I believe this family knows perfectly well where she is and is dialing for dollars, so to speak.

I wish all of you would stop creating stuff and just look for her in places she is likely to be located. She wrote online -- to the woman she has been chasing -- the one in Antelope, CA -- that she plans to take a secret trip to Vegas -- it looks like with the lady from Antelope. So has anyone checked Vegas and the lady in Antelope?

I see where the check at the restaurant list TWO guests; yet, I have not seen the police, family or media comment on this fact; i.e., none of the witnesses were asked about this second person in media reports. I think the identity of this second person should be part of the investigation.
Bones have been found within two miles of the last sighing. There were jeans matching what she was known to be wearing. But there is no positive identification yet. Dental records are to be evaluated today.
