Pastor Clifford Lawless, a neighbor of Sandra Cantu and her family and pastor of the Clover Baptist Church, which has been designated a crime scene.
On Monday, Tracy police cordoned off the Clover Baptist Church as a crime scene in the Sandra Cantu investigation.
The pastor of the church lives in the same mobile home park where 8-year-old Sandra Cantu lived with her family.
Sandra’s body was discovered Monday in a piece of luggage found in a drained irrigation ditch just north of Tracy, California.
Pastor Clifford Lane Lawless’ church is only about 100 yards away from the Orchard Estates Mobile Home Park.
According to Tracy Press, Lawless has been pastor of the church since 1981 and has lived in the mobile home park with his wife since the mid-1990s.
Lawless is the fourth name to have come up in the investigation regarding Sandra.
Frank Woehler, 60, lives in the park behind Sandra’s home and was served search warrants by police. Woehler said he kissed Sandra on the lips two years ago just to be nice, when she was only 6-years-old.
Christian Sinclair, 49, was arrested last week for obstructing the police investigation and has been described in court records as alcoholic and abusive.
A friend of Sinclair, David Slayter, 44, whose home and cars were searched, was questioned by police last week. Slayter admitted Sandra had been in his home several times.
As of Monday afternoon, an autopsy was underway to determine how Sandra died.

I have an eight year old daughter. When she was five an old neighbor, a drunk, gave her a doll that wets for Christmas. When I took her over to the guy's house to say thank you (at the time I didn't think he was so bad), he suddenly says to her "O you want to kiss me?" Quickly he put his hand on her back and launched himself at her with an open mouth. No kidding. Fortunately she turned her head away at the last second. I was stunned but since we had just moved into this house stupidly felt that I didn't want to make a scene. So I said, she's not much into kissing. I later got rid of the doll and we haven't talked to the old lecher since. I later heard him referred to as "Dirty Harry" (his name is Harry). My daughter is not allowed anywhere near him now. I know it's not nice to say but were kind of hoping he kicks off soon. In the mean time I have to keep my eyes open.
