Nadia Bloom update: Search dogs pick up scent of missing Florida girl

Monday morning, search crews resumed their search for Nadia Bloom, 11, who disappeared on Friday near a wooded area close to her home in Winter Springs, Fla. Bloodhounds used during today's search picked up the girl’s scent.

According to WDBO, Police Chief Kevin Brunelle said search dogs picked up Nadia’s scent just north of where her bicycle was found on the day she vanished.

Brunelle said searcher’s next step is to “…go in there and we search any dense brush or anything there that might lead us to believe she’s in that area either stuck, stuck in mud, laying down or whatever it may be.”

He also noted that authorities believe Nadia is still alive. “I’m being told by all the personnel that I have available to me out there that this is still, in fact, a live search,” Brunelle said. “We do know that she has a curiosity for wilderness and picking flowers and wanting to go out and do some exploring.”

WDBO reports that Nadia had a book about exploring, a still camera, and a video camera in her backpack when she went missing. Her sister also told officials that Nadia wanted to make a film about nature.

Nadia is described as being about 5-feet tall and weighing 85 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. She is also mildly autistic. She was last seen wearing an orange shirt with blue shorts. She may also have been carrying a black horse backpack.
