The mother of 5-year-old Shaniya Davis, whose lifeless body was found Monday alongside a North Carolina highway, made her first court appearance.
Antoinette Nicole Davis faces several charges, including selling Shaniya as a sex slave and making a false police report.
A public defender was also appointed to represent her in the matter.

This woman makes me sick. I just heard that she also has a son and is pregnant again. I hope she never gets to touch her remaining kids again. She is so sick. I believe she needed money and planned on this horrific act the moment she asked poor little Shaniya's father to let her come live with her. The death penalty lets her off too easy. There is a special place in hell for people who harm and abuse kids. I wish they would pull out each and every nasty dreadlock in her head, and come up with other painful ways to make her pay for what she did to her poor, innocent child. That image of that man taking the confused, trusting child into the hotel elevator makes me want to throw up and it will forever haunt me. God bless and be with her. My prayers are with her and her father. You know that poor decision will haunt him forever. I'm sure he never would have imagined this was even a possibility.
For once words escape me. May God bless that little girl's / angels soul. May she be with Jesus and may the murderer and the woman that she called mother receive the maximum punishment from God's law and man's law that is allowed. Our Prayers are with this little angel's father and family. Senseless. Simply senseless.
This saddens me deeply. I can not imagine something like this happening to my baby girl. This little innocent girl did not deserve this. No child does. It puzzles me as to how her mother was so polite to the judge but yet would put her child in harms way for a quick few bucks. And the guy who raped her is just as sick. I mean you really didnt have to take her life. Really what does a 5 year old have to offer you that you cant find in a grown woman? SICKO!!!! This is just too painful for me to keep talking about. Rest in Peace Shaniya. I know you are with the Lord and his angels.
