Mitrice Richardson news: Missing woman’s mom does not find Las Vegas sighting of daughter credible
On Thursday, Los Angeles law enforcement announced from Las Vegas that Mitrice Richardson, 25, who’s been missing for over ten months, has reportedly been spotted in the area by an acquaintance. Friday, the missing woman’s mother, Lattice Sutton, said she does not believe the sighting of her daughter was credible.
A key witness, Greg Amerson, who was Mitrice’s date to a high school formal almost ten years ago told police he saw her in Las Vegas.
Sutton released a statement saying Amerson’s claims are not “credible.” She noted that “Contrary to law enforcement official statements during the press conference, Mitrice did not grow up with, go to school with, or spend significant time with this witness.” Sutton said Amerson last saw her daughter nine years ago, so she finds his assertions hard to believe.
Nonetheless, according to the Calabasas Patch, Mitrice’s father, Michael Richardson claimed to have seen her in Las Vegas in January. In addition, police said at the news conference that there have been about 70 other sightings of Mitrice at restaurtants and in buses in the area.

Mitrice was last seen leaving the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station at about 1 a.m. on Sept. 17, 2009. She had been arrested by authorities because she could not pay an $89 dinner bill at Geoffrey's restaurant. In her possession she also had a small amount of marijuana. According to reports, she was disoriented upon her release from detention and was sent into the dead of night without her cell phone, purse, or car.
Sutton does not believe Mitrice is in Las Vegas. In June she filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department alleging authorities negligently released her daughter on the night she vanished. Mitrice’s father filed a similar suit last week.
The Patch reports that the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to the whereabouts of Mitrice.
Mitrice is described as a 5-foot-5, 125-lb African American woman with hazel brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a brown Bob Marley t-shirt and blue jeans. She has tattoos on her lower abdomen and behind her neck.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts should contact Detective Kristin Merrill with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit at (213) 485-5381, Latice Sutton at (909) 282-9134 or Michael Richardson at (310) 283-4717.
