Missing Skelton boys’ mother a registered sex offender, says report

Missing Skelton boys’ mother a registered sex offender, says report

The search for the three little boys who’ve gone missing in Michigan wrapped up Monday and will continue Tuesday. In the meantime, it’s been reported that the boys’ mother, Tanya Skelton is a registered sex offender.

WLNS reports that state records indicate that Tanya, 44, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in 1998 for having sex with a 14-year-old boy. The boy worked for Tanya at rental properties, according to the report.

The fact that Tanya is a sex offender is not relevant, according to family spokesperson Kathye Herrera, noting it has nothing to do with the status of Tanya’s missing sons.

The boys, Andrew, 9, Alexander, 7, and Tanner, 5, were reported missing on Friday by Tanya. Their father, John Skelton, 39, claims he gave his sons to a woman -- Joann Taylor -- he had met years ago but reconnected with recently on the Internet. Skelton attempted suicide on Friday, and told authorities he sent the boys away with Taylor because he did not want them in the house when he killed himself. During the failed suicide attempt, Skelton sustained a broken ankle. He is now being held at a secure mental facility.

Police now say they don’t believe that Taylor exists and say Skelton may have dumped his boys on the side of the road in Ohio.

The boys reportedly live with their mother and were visiting their father for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Andrew is 4-feet-1 inch tall, weighs 57 pounds, and has brown eyes and hair. Alexander is 3-feet-9 inches tall, weighs 45 pounds, and has brown eyes and hair, and a scar at his hairline and on his chin. Tanner is 3-feet-6 inches tall, weighs 40 pounds, and has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on the alleged victims, abductor or vehicle is asked to call 911 or the Morenci Police Department at (517) 263-0524.

This story is just more evidence of the breakdown in humanity. A father accused of killing three young innocent children. Why would anyone do such a horrible thing. It is very difficult to imagine!

i am shocked. not at the fact that she is a sex-offender, but that you would have the audacity to publish this story. first of all, there was no reason to publish this bit of tawdry news-obviously, the police are aware and if there is any connection with the mother's acquaintances, so you're not helping the case at all by reporting this. Secondly - this mother's children are more than likely DEAD, and you add this insult on top of it??? You should be ashamed of yourself, you are despicable to say the least.

Let me just say, that this story is completely irrelevant to the fact that the boys are missing. The fact remains, the boys have still not been found. I have assisted on two different searches for these poor boys, we all want them to come home. To believe that this would be published...Lets not forget that the father of these boys is the one being held in prison on three counts of felony kidnapping. He is not a saint either. He was recently released for serving time for non-payment of child support from a previous marriage. How do we know this is not a ploy to keep from paying child support for these three precious boys. People will continue to fabricate and publish stories for a buck. Ridiculous...Get facts straight before pulishing this crap...seriously

let me just say that publishing this story was COMPLETELY unneccesary. The mother of these children is going through enough already. Her children are missing and very well could be dead and you are going to publish this bull crap? Someone who doesnt even know her or knows the situation that occurred when she was registered. Do you know her personaly? no you probably dont. have you ever even spoke with her? no you probably havent. So what right do you have to put something on the internet about someone who you dont know and who is going through a tradgedy such as this? ABSOLUTELY NONE!!!! Do you think that when the mother of these children gets on the internet she wants to see a story about her life that gives her a bad name and could give the wrong impression to people who dont know her? NO IM SURE SHE DOESNT!!! And if you were in this position and your three beautiful children were missing im sure you wouldnt want to see anything like this about you on the internet either.
