Madeleine McCann update: British police to launch new probe into case of missing girl
British police are launching a new probe into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, who went missing in Portugal during a family vacation in 2007. Madeleine was only 3-year-old at the time.
The probe comes after an investigation by Jim Gable, head of the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre, which found Portuguese investigators did not “come close” to UK standards when completing their inquiry into the matter.
News of the World reports that this time around, British authorities will use modern technology and certain standards that are utilized when a kidnapping or homicide occurs in the UK.
Gamble noted that during the Portuguese investigation, telephone records were not properly analyzed, and detectives failed to follow up on important leads.
Furthermore, Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann were originally named suspects in the case by Portuguese police, which Gamble said would not have happened if the investigation had taken place in the UK.
According to News of the World, the McCann’s local Leicestershire police force will not carry out the new probe, due to Gamble’s review determining the group made a number of errors during their investigation. Instead, the Association of Chief Police Officers is searching within their ranks to find individuals who can work on the new probe.
The McCanns are reportedly “delighted” with the news of a fresh investigation into their missing daughter’s disappearance.

I am elated to read that the UK authorities are intervening in this case. May the culprits behind Maddie's abduction be caught soon.
This must be a happy day for the McCanns, not longer will they need to appeal to the public with their begging bowl.
£3M spent them on a private investigation and many public appeals.
Will be extremely interesting, what the UK will discover.
Perhaps they might even get a reconstruction done!

Death scent and blood in their car and appartment,
no evidence whatsoever of an abductor,lies and inconsistencies in the statements, refusal to participate in the investigation,witnesses harassment, major PR campaign, best lawyers in both countries to defend them in court, bungling british clowns to look for their daughter...It's all so obvious that I can only think you are either stupid or bent. Stop embarrassing yourself and shut up.They will get caught.Sooner or later.And so will you.
What many people do not realize is that some of the best cadaver dogs in the world were brought in from the UK & alerted, indicating that they smelled cadaver scent, in the apartment where Maddie went missing, a rental car that the McCanns did not have until 25 days after the child disappeared, & on various personal articles belonging to the McCanns, including some of Mrs. McCann's clothing. Explanations put forward by the McCanns' PR machine attributed the smell of cadaver scent to the fact that they had carried rotted meat & their younger children's dirty diapers in the car! Gimme a break.
The McCanns also changed their story on whether or not the doors to the apartment were locked when Maddie went missing, and they initially said that the shutters to the kids' bedroom had been "jemmied," when the investigation showed they had not. Kate McCann promised to take a lie detector test but refused once she was safely back in the UK. I could go on and on.

Now I have heard everything. Kate McCann refused to answer questions from the Portuguese police about things as simple as what her medical specialty was. The McCanns and their friends were asked to return to Portugal at the Portuguese government's expense to participate in a reconstruction of events the night Maddie went missing and would not go.
And now they want the UK police to take PARTIAL information about the case (can't imagine that the Portuguese are just going to hand over their case file) and conduct a review because THEY are not happy with the investigation? Let me turn off the flashing neon sign on my forehead that says "stupid."
Looks to me like nothing more than a blatant attempt by some people with pull to have their own government clear them in a case which happened in another country.
Big waste of time and money, IMO. I read that the Portuguese police interviewed thousands of people and had tens of thousands of pages in their files.
Looks like to me the McCanns want the Brits to exonerate them because the Portuguese didn't.
Is there anyone left who still believes the McCanns had nothing to do with their daughter's disappearance? I don't think even Gamble believes it, he just likes the money and the attention this case has garnered him. This case makes me ashamed to be British.

If the McCanns did murder their child (like many of you believe), why would they keep up all of this publicity--and after so long?
The question about the cadaver dogs alerting to the scent of death is at the centre of the public debate as to the guilt or innocence of the mccanns.
The problem with the cadaver scent being discovered in the apartment is that it could have been placed there (planted.) Cloth taken from another cadaver could easily have been wiped in those areas of the flat. It would not need to be a large piece of material. Even fingers rubbed on a dead body, then quickly rubbed in the cupboard or behind the sofa, on some clothes or the car keys, could transfer the dead scent. The cadaver dogs were called in a long time after Madeleines disappearance. I am not convinced that the police or other person entering the Mccanns flat could not have been complicit in this area. Who would be in contact with cadavers? The police. Selling children is a lucrative business.
For the Wider Agenda, of course. For those of us that followed this case as it unfolded live? GMAB, the Anthony's have built their case off of this horrible murder. And I do think that Kate murdered her child.
This woman did photo ops, in the same untasteful way the Anthony's have done. In Heals, on the Rocks at the shore, and to attempt to "show" what a good mom she ISN't.
I hope that they arrest Kate McCann.
I do believe that she died and they put her body into the sea, where they continued to go back to time and time and time again. Those Rocks. Some of us saved, all the photos.

I cannot believe the totally slanderous accusations being branded by people commenting on this site. It is a grave and serious offence to accuse a child's mother of killing her daughter with absolutely zero evidence to prove it. I am disgusted with the attitude here. Leave the investigating to the experts, and if anybody knows of any evil pedophiliac or anybody who has abducted a child for whatever reason, do children worldwide a favour and report them to the police without delay.
Stop accusing Madeleines parents, nobody have any facts, start praying for Maddies safe return, or a body, any thing that will help to solve the case, accusing the parents without evidence will not help. If it was one of your children that dissapear, how would you react, if someone accuse you of killing your child, you will be furious. People accussing the parents as if they witness the killing themselves. I will still pray for Maddie to be alive, or at least, if not a live, her body, then everybody can get over this tragedy. the sniffer dogs Eddie and Keela who are highly trained and have 100% accuracy rate have both indicated the deth and blood scents in exactly the same spots in Maccain apartments and in the car boot that Mc cains rented out eddie specailizes in deecting death odor of decaying HUMAN corpse and She can detect minute quantities of blood that cannot be seen with the human eye,” he said. “She is used at scenes where someone has tried to clean it up. If blood has seeped into the tiles behind a bath where a body has been, she can find it.”
Mac Cains claim that they had old chickes bons in the boots of the car doesn't make sense and is suspicious Eddie know the difference between human and animal death smell and only alerts it trainer to the death smell of the HUMAN BODY. the blood samples that were collected from the boot of the car first were confirmed to be identical to Madeleine, later after few monh of being "stored"in British laboratory they turned up inconclusive.

Whoever took Maddie had this all worked out so well - so how on earth were the Mccanns and friends supposed to have a relaxing dinner, walk back and forth to check on the kids and still HAVE already murdered their daughter.

Shame on you, all you false accusers. None of you have any evidence. Just think of the damage you may be causing to this family. Yes they made mistakes, but they know it. Poor Maddie lies in Germany (I've been to the place!) but the guilty are protected by the strict 'Human rights' laws there. Police will not search the place without a Court Order. Police protocol has caused the holdup in this sad saga.
Sadly, Madeleine is dead. The investigators, both Portuguese and UK concluded this based on evidence of best in world, never been wrong, UK blood and cadaver dogs, and other evidences they have, which they say proves Madeleine is dead.
McCanns informed and the police wished them to give up the cadaver which was removed from apartment and hidden as they believe an accident? or something deadly? happened while the McCanns were out for the night,(not doing the regular checks they say they were, if checking at all) and they returned and found her dead. In panic as they would have got ten years for neglect, Madeleine was then hidden and a fake abduction set up.
The blood and cadaver dogs alerted at same place behind settee, and when tile lifted found blood under it. The dogs also alerted in wardrobe and back of their hire car. Other apartments and cars tested, but only McCanns alerted to. McCanns since sent millions. Book called 'FAKED ABDUCTION' based on police File is on sale.
By the way, it is not slander to say that Madeleine is dead, as the investigators themselves recently stood up in court and said this. There has been much spin fed to the media by the McCanns who have their own spokesman, PR team, and team of lawyers, who try to make out the cops were useless. Not true. McCanns may still be charged and were never cleared, only had arguido status removed.
There is also a video on Youtube and elsewhere of the dogs working the McCanns apartment and hire car, and you can see for yourselves how the dogs alerted to what they found. These UK dogs are so good they are even requested specially by the US cops. They really are the best in the world and have NEVER been wrong, much as the McCanns try to discredit them. So why should they be in this case. Don't forget it takes time for cadaver scent to build up, so the child must have been behind the settee for some time before she was discovered. So much for checking every ten minutes. Cannot be true.
After the investigators discovered the death of Madeleine in the apartment and the clean up of the walls, floor, curtains and settee which had been washed, they should have made the case a murder investigation. All the Tapas friends, including the McCanns ought to have been made suspects as they all knew the children were alone and door unlocked. Some friends of the McCanns back in UK were so concerned when they heard Madeleine was missing they went to the police to make statements about one of the doctors who had been on that holiday and paedophilia suspicion. These are the 'Gaspar statements' and are available on line for reading. e.g Joana Morais site, and are in the partly released Case File. A murder investigation may discover the truth about what really happened to Madeleine and how she came to die behind the settee. The furniture had been moved to cover the place of cadaver scent and blood, and forensic evidence from car indicated body had later been frozen at some time.
They aren't checking on all leads. If it were my child I would check every single lead. I was at a beach on Long Island,NY and I saw this child. I reported it to the investigators for the McCanns. I am not nut, I am a parent and a wife of a police officer. They never even spoke to me. My husband and I ran to try to find the child and strange man and they were gone. This was at Jones Beach,NY. I spoke to her and tried to stop man from hitting her and child was curled up into a ball in ffear and was clearly traumatized. still, the McCanns never even checked. I want no reward except for them to find her. Who knows where they are now?!
Clearly, she was sold into the pedophile world. Too bad they won't even follow leads, decent leads when they get them! That poor child and how she must suffer every day.
Also, what kind of mother who has a missing child after a week, can remember to put a necklace and earrings on to look together for the camera's?! No one I know.
