To raise funds to help in the search for their missing daughter, the parents of Madeleine McCann have planned a star-studded party.
According to the Daily Star, Kate and Gerry McCann have invited Harry Potter author JK Rowling, billionaire Virgin owner Sir Richard Branson, UK radio personality Nicki Campbell, and Scottish tycoon Brian Kennedy to attend the soiree.
Each attendee will pay £150 per ticket ($250 USD) to commemorate the 1,000-day anniversary of Madeleine’s disappearance.
The party will take place at The Roof Gardens in Kensington, west London, on Jan. 27. According to the Star, millions have been donated to the fund to find Madeleine who was three when she went missing during a family vacation in Portugal.
Her parents insist she was abducted, however, Goncalo Amaral, one of the Portuguese detectives that worked on the case, wrote a book arguing Madeleine died in an accident and that the McCanns covered up by claiming she was kidnapped.
His allegations received further publicity last week when hearings were held in a Portuguese court regarding the banning of Amaral’s book.
The McCanns are concerned that the negative publicity may hinder donations to the search fund and hope the party will spark new interest in the case.

How disgusting. The McCanns have made millions off Madeleine's disappearance and control a Fund they seem more interested in than finding their daughter. I wonder why the UK press doesn't expose this couple for what they are - fame seekers!

She really deserves a full police investigation with the experience of the investigators.
Don´t ask for money.
Better answer the still unanswered questions and do the re-enactment. It is the only way to help to find aut what happened to your daughter.
A court case purporting to be trying to prevent the distribution of a book from (somehow) hampering a search (which isnt even happening) and which has actually resulted in more publicity for the book!
But the real reason for the case os the McCanns trying to extract money from a successful publication - which is already in the public domain and cant be stopped anyway. The McCanns are fraudsters.
Oh my god, a star studded celebrity party??? These two neglectful parents have suddenly put themselves in the realm of celebrity status. Are Branson and JK Rowling actually going to go when it has recently come out in the hearing that both the Portuguese and British police concluded the Madeleine died in the apartment. There is still a cloud over the McCanns yet they are swanning around throwing parties to get yet more money in the "fund". When is someone going to properly investigate them, the fund and their friends - disgraceful is the only word for it.
Donate to Haiti or any other worthy cause, not to some a private Fund pretending to be a charity and supporting a 'search' that only is for people who dare contradict two of the most selfish people ever known.
They are having a party! Yet they are not excerising their rights to have the case re-opened. Surely an open case and the right people investigating the disappearance of their child they claim has been abducted by paedophiles is doing everything they can for their missing child. Or is that the problem they do not want an investigation?

It's about time that there was a freeze on this fund. Why this fund has been allowed to go on under the pretext of a charity is shameful. Both Gerry and Kate McCann are directors of this fund which is run as a company - it is not a charity and as such this celebratory dinner should not be linked to two offical charities who have no links to Madeleine McCann whatsoever.
