On Tuesday, missing Hassani Campbell’s foster father was released from jail after being arrested on Friday for suspicion of murder.
Louis Ross and his fiancé Jennifer Campbell, Hassani’s aunt, were both taken into custody on Friday as authorities announced the couple was suspected of murder and the case of the missing 5-year-old was now a homicide investigation.
Campbell was released on Monday because authorities said they had insufficient evidence against her. The district attorney had until Tuesday to file charges against Ross, but instead released him as well.
Despite their release, investigators still question the couple’s story surrounding Hassani’s disappearance and Oakland Police chief Howard Jordan announced they hope to re-arrest the couple.
Hassani, who has cerebral palsy, went missing Aug. 10 and was last seen with Ross, who claimed the boy disappeared after he left him alone briefly in a shoe store parking lot. Police said Hassani never made it to that shoe store, effectively stating Ross' story is false.

Well it proves he wasn't killed 2 weeks before he disappeared as the media seemed to suggest.
I have seen soooo many cases where the FBI/ Police believe that the parents were involved and they focus all of their attention on the parents. Instead of Looking for Real / True answers of Where Hassani Is. EX: The Jaycee Dugard case they looked at the Step Father for a Long time before they opened there eyes and realized that he had nothing to do with it. and it took them 18 years to locate her, Don't rule them out as a suspect; but don't stop looking for other possible leads....Also, why did they consider him Deceased and have not released any information as to what lead them to that conclusion with enough probable cause to arrest the parents?????
I bet the foster father had something to do with it and now the aunt is covering for him. That little boy is so precious, and I just hope they confess where his body is so he can be laid to rest....I'm praying for his safe return....but what's the chances? I hope the foster father and the aunt frys.....if they hurt that little angel.
The police have basically bungled this case.
Louis Ross is a bad person. I know. He is a mean, controlling, arragant, angry little man who lies and steals to get by in life. How is it that men like this - who are too lazy to get a real job and be a man, but instead choose to prey on women who actually can pay their bills, but have very low self esteem? She owns the house. He is unemployed and supposedly going to school, driving a BMW. You don't have to be a financial genius to know who is paying the bills here. He then bullies this woman until all of her perception of what is right goes away and gets caught into his web of lies and just plain evil, that she feels like there is no way out. I think that he has done something very bad to this little boy and she knows, but is scared to death of him because of this tremendous fear that he has created. I pray that if he did do something to this beautiful little boy, he will pay dearly.
Amazing. Nancy Grace has spent night after night on the Haleigh Cumming's case! Why not a more indepth program on Hassani? Ross and Campbell reside in a very nice middle-class neighborhoods where homes reportedly run north of $500,000? How can they afford to live in a home on Jennifer's salary? She is a mananger at a shoe store--not even a chain shoe store? And whay hasn't the press drilled down to learn more about Ross's background? And Jennifer's? Something is terribly amiss here. The press needs to step up their game so that people "out there" can start thinking and find this little boy. And what was in that big box that Ross and Campbell purchased at Walmart? Something tells me that Hassani is buried somewhere.
All I have to say is anyone who would deliberately harm a child should be locked up and the key thrown away. I have no synpathy for no one envolved except for little Hassani. I know first hand about the justice system and my opinion. ASS BACKWARD!. The wrong criminals are locked up.
Louis Ross preys on lonely women like jennifer campbell and in less than 9 months murders her nephew. Thry mrt online where all sorts of perverts and deadbeats congregate to meet and abuse defenseless women and children. The ass"t District Attorney should re-arrest him because he is constantly perjuring himself and has a lot to hide, poor Hassani.
Where is the gray sweatshirt that the volunteers found and why would Louis Ross buy a mini fridge at Walmart.. so he could hide a decomposing body of a small child.
They checked his cellphone records he *(Louis)* clearly text'd and said that he would leave Hasani on the bart train by himself...LOL! What more would u need to know as evidence? This Louis guy is guilty. Sad that they decided to do something terrible to a child who has a handicap. SMDH@this situation. The OAK PD is a joke.
