Convicted sex offender, Anthony Sowell, was arrested on Saturday after a woman accused him of raping her in his Cleveland home. With search warrant in hand, police also discovered Sowell, 50, had six decomposing bodies in his house.

A spokesperson for the Cuyahoga County coroner said the bodies “could have been there anywhere from weeks to months to years.”

Sowell had previously spent 15 years in prison for choking and raping a 21-year-old woman in 1989. The coroner’s office determined that at least five of the six bodies found in his home on Saturday, were likely strangled.

Those living in the community are concerned about women that have been missing from the area.

According to CBS News, Ida Garrett, 72, was worried about a friend who disappeared about six months ago. Nancy Cobb, 43, lived only one street away from Sowell and was reported missing in April. Her family fears she is one of Sowell’s victims. Garrett said, "She seemed to be a very nice, quiet girl. I've known her since she was a teenager."

According to neighbors, Sowell would often walk around asking for money and seeking scrap metal to sell.

His home, which he returned to in 2005 after his release from prison, was owned by two of his relatives. One was a female, who neighbors believed was living in a nursing home, however, police are looking into her status, since some believe she might be one of the dead.

According to CBS, charges have yet to be filed regarding the bodies found in Sowell’s home.
