After having fled the country to escape being jailed for a 1978 conviction for the statutory rape of a 13-year-old Los Angeles girl, director Roman Polanski gave an interview about his experience.
According to the Telegraph, the original interview was given to Martin Amis in 1979, and appeared in the UK publication ‘The Tatler.’ It can now be found in Amis’ book ‘Visiting Mrs. Nabokov.’
The relevant quote given by Polanski pertains to his actions with the young girl, to which he said:
If I had killed somebody, it wouldn’t have had so much appeal to the press, you see? But… f***ing, you see, and the young girls. Judges want to f*** young girls. Juries want to f*** young girls. Everyone wants to f*** young girls!”
Polanski was arrested last week in Switzerland and is fighting extradition back to the states. If he is successfully brought back to Los Angeles, he will face sentencing for the rape he pleaded guilty to over 30 years ago.
