A 15-year-old Deerfield Middle School girl was attacked at school yesterday by another student.
Josie Lou Ratley is in critical condition at Broward General Medical Center after the vicious attack.
The accused is Wayne Treacy, a 15-year-old boy.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office says numerous witnesses saw Treacy attack Ratley. He punched her in the head numerous times until she fell to the ground then he smashed her head on the pavement and continued to kick and stomp on her with steel-toed boots.
A teacher saw the fight and pulled Treacy away from Ratley. BSO’s deputies arrived around 2:45 p.m. and found the victim unresponsive. Treacy was taken into custody.
Deerfield Beach Fire Rescue responded and treated Ratley. BSO Fire Rescue airlifted her to Broward General Medical Center where she is still listed in critical condition.
According to police, Treacy was upset about a conversation he had with Ratley over text messages. Treacy’s girlfriend, 13-year-old Keyla Manson, pointed Ratley out to Treacy.
Treacy appeared in juvenile court today. The judge ordered for him to be held in juvenile detention for 21 days until his next hearing, scheduled for March 30.
Treacy is facing one count of premeditated attempted murder. For Manson’s involvement, she will be charged with aiding and abetting someone during the commission of a felony.

oh my gosh that is horrible. i am a middle school kid. in 7th grade and all the boys at my school would never put there hands on a girl! they are all well respectful toward girls! i think this is outrageous! that child (the boy who messed with the girl)should be disciplined very well.
Wow.... I can understand why this boy would be upset if the girl said something about his brother killing himself, but where was this kid raised? In the zoo? A boy should NEVER beat on a girl, especially not to this degree. The 13 girlfriend is obviously a dumass child and this is further proof that she is too young to be in a relationship with a 15 year old boy. I hope he gets convicted as an adult. He wants to fight, he'll get lots of them in prison. Too bad there won't be any girls for him to beat up there...

this is obviously a very horrible situation. But Wayne Treacy has my respect. I don't know what the conversation they had was about, but a lot of girls I know really deserve to be beaten down to death! I don't care about the saying "if you're a boy you should never hit a girl". I think that saying is total crap! WAYNE TREACY IS AMAZING!
As for ms. Ratley, it's your fault for getting yourself into this. Think of what you said to him that you think might've ticked him off.

Thats so sad,weather its true or not, thats why i never have friends that are male, most of them just get to annoyed or angry at things they misunderstand or just don't like, and they are usually stupid reason. I'm a boy, and I'm still scared of other boys.
If this boy had killed her, then he would have a horrible life. I've read stories about girls who have died at young ages and its just so sad about how much everyone misses them. Hope she is ok.

Ok people read it properly. Josie Ratley [the girl who got beat to a plup] wasn't his girlfriend. Keyla Manson [the 13 year old girlfriend] pointed her out to the guy. So he wasn't beating up his girlfriend, not that it makes it any better.
But another point. Was there that many people around that he needed somone to point her out, yet noone in the crowd had enough balls to stop him? At what point would you think that she's had enough? One punch? Five? Or maybe when she's not moving but still getting her head stomped and she lays in a puddle of blood. What's the odds someone recorded it on their phone?
So really the funny thing is that noone seems to care, just happy to watch. Besides this happens to people everyday why does this case get more attention? Is it because he's 15 and we all know he's going to get gang raped in the showers? Lol. Yes :D

Maybe she had really made him tick, she might not be innocent. Girl's aren't always innocent and yes, boys can hit girls. You fought for equality. Now remember that.

It doesn't matter what she said, no one deserves that. Violence, whether against men or women, is wrong. Some people us their hands to paint pictures or play musical instruments, it's such a shame this guy used his to punch someone's face in.
