Michael Coleman, now 18, and Marcus Cammon, now 19, both of Cleveland, were bound over from juvenile court and indicted on murder and felonious assault charges for the murder of 18-year-old Joy Cranfield on September 4, 2008.
Michael Coleman fired several shots into a crowd in the courtyard of Carver Park Estates at 4315 Quincy Avenue in Cleveland. Marcus Cammon retrieved a gun and returned fire. As a result from the volley of gun fire, Joy Cranfield was struck twice and died at MetroHealth Medical Center.
On October 20, 2009, Michael Coleman pleaded guilty to murder, with a one year gun specification and faces life in prison with eligibility of parole after 16 years. Also on October 20, 2009, Marcus Cammon pleaded guilty to felonious assault. He faces a maximum of 8 years in prison.
Sentencing for Michael Coleman and Marcus Cammon is scheduled for 9:00 am in front of Judge Stuart Friedman.
