Narcisco Gatica Berly Valladares Police photos
An alleged gang member shot and killed a DePaul University student during a Halloween party in revenge for being kicked out of the party, according to Chicago police.
Narcisco Gatica,19, of the 2400 block of West Armitage and Berly Valladares, 21, of the 2600 block of West Cortland, were charged this afternoon with the murder of Francisco Valencia, 21.
They were also charged with the attempted murder of Daisy Camacho, another 21-year-old DePaul student who was shot and seriously injured.
Valencia and other DePaul students were at a Halloween party on the 1700 block of North Rockwell. Police say Gatica crashed the party and was kicked out. At about 1:15 a.m., police say he returned to the party with a gun and opened fire on a group of people. Valencia and Camacho were hit.
Police say Valladares admitted that he is the one who supplied the gun Gatica used in the shooting.
At DePaul, a university noted for its standout students, Valencia was a star. He was a senior and would have graduated next June. Camacho is reportedly on the mend and was released from the hospital today.

We cannot give in to this senseless violence perpetrated by these low-lifes. If we do, it makes Frankie's life mean less than it should. He was an outstanding human being. These worthless people made their choice and lived their lives accordingly. They should pay a stiff penalty. We should work hard to help children realize they have the opportunity to be a Frankie and not a hateful loser.
im sorry i feel bad for this kid who got shot im sure he would of been a great sucessful. what i hate is that if this was a guy who was poor who was raised with bad people would his life be so important to others. i think berly valladares should of never been charged with a murder the other guy shot the 2 depaul students. i think its crazy how it all depends on who died and how important they were i think its B.S nobody life is worth more than someone else. they just charged berly because they knew this students was a great sudent who had a great life ahead of him. The police would of never been so commited into this murder and attempt murder if this was a innocent guy but was poor and had been raised with a bad family

Frankie was on his way to making a difference in his world; he was motivated by compassion, not personal acclaim. Whatever contributions he would have made to Chicago, to the nation, or to the world will not be realized. I cannot express the despair I feel when two young adults have so little regard for the value of a human life that they will simply take one on a whim. They will never know what they have taken; sadly, neither will we.

What has our country come to when people like those to losers up there are killing people just because know one liked them and they got kicked out of a party.... it's embarrassing to say that i live in a society filled with low life gang bangers, in fact it's even disgusting... i hope they get more than what they deserve. who are they to take the life of not just frankie but anyone.

This is a response to the other anonymous person who posted a comment 7 months ago from from mine. You did not know Frankie, he did grow up poor too. He did grow up in bad neighborhoohs too. Im glad Berly got sentenced to 70 YEARS!!!! Frankie was a great guy, wrong place wrong time. Those ignorant ganag memebers will get what they deserve.
