Men suspected of helping accused cop killer Maurice Clemmons make court appearance

Authorities in Washington state are wasting no time hauling into court the people suspected of helping  alleged cop killer Maurice Clemmons elude police for two days.

A police officer shot and killed Clemmons in Seattle this morning, ending the manhunt that began shortly after police say Clemmons shot and killed four Lakewood officers on Sunday.  Early on, investigators knew Clemmons had been wounded by one of the dying officers. They knew he had to be getting help from people because he could not have escaped on his own given the nature of his injury.

Eddie Lee Davis, 20, and his brother Douglas Davis, 22, pleaded not guilty today to charges of first-degree rendering of criminal assistance. Police say they were friends of Clemmons. A third man, Ricky Hinton, who was Clemmons' half brother,  was not charged today but is jailed on $2 million bond pending further investigation.

A report in the Seattle Times says court documents indicate the three men helped Clemmons after he showed up at their house bleeding. They reportedly knew he had shot police officers and drove him to a relative's home for medical treatment. Police say several other people were then involved in moving Clemmons around the Tacoma and Seattle area and say up to seven people may eventually be charged with criminal assistance.

Relatives of the slain officers were in court today, expressing disbelief that anyone would willingly try to help a man who had just ambushed and killed four people.

I'd take anyone who knowingly helped this piece of human garbage out behind the building and shoot their worthless ass. Time is here that the decent, law abiding people in this country start dealing with this scum in the ONLY way that they can relate to, and understand. I can't wait till the limp wrist, bleeding heart crowd starts with the "we have to be compassionate and understanding" BS. We're headed back to the wild west where you'd better be carrying a gun with you. It's the reason I do you can be certain.

Huckabee changed this man's sentence fr.life to like {34yrs}? when he was16yrs. A judge took it upon his self to let him go as did all the judges he had in Ca. We need to do something about all of these judges that are constantly sending criminals back out the door to prey on everyone else.My son is an asst.chief in Ar. I worry about him bc it's a rough place.

The only good criminals are the one's that can't commit crimes anymore - Dead criminals that is! More good people need to get armed, so when these useless murderers attempt to gun down innocent people, some armed saint in the crowd can end the pathetic life of these cowards. No legal process, no costing tax payers thousands, no paroles, and no pussy-pandering-bleeding- hearts seeking humane treatment for the murdering scum - just a dead criminal laying in a pool of blood. Get armed America - I did - I recently received my cocealed weapons permit and I urge more good Americans to do the same.
