Chicago police are searching for a man who they think tried to abduct a juvenile girl as she walked to school on the 6300 block of North Ridge on Thursday.

The man was driving a newer model dark blue pickup truck with shiny wheels.

The girl told police he pulled up next to her and asked her if she wanted a ride. He followed her, beeped his horn and yell at her to get in the truck.

She ran to school and alerted a security guard there.

The suspect is a white male, 30 - 35 years old, bald, with a round face and muscular build.

Meanwhile, police at the Northwestern University campus in Evanston have posted an alert on their website after a man tried to lure a 16-year-old girl into his car on Thursday.

The teen is a student in a summer program at the school and was approached by the man at 3 p.m.

The man was driving a yellow car and had a laptop computer with him. He allegedly told the girl. "If you are interested in an escort service, I can take you anywhere you want."

The incident happened as the teen walked toward the Norris University Center from 1987 Campus Drive.

The suspect in this incident is a dark skinned male with facial stubble with a foreign accent. He's between 20 and 30 years old.
