Fenger High School will be getting a a $500,000 emergency grant from the U.S. Department of Education to curb the violence that left one student dead in a videotaped beating viewed around the world.

That announcement came as U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder and U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan met with Mayor Daley and other city leaders in Chicago today to discuss the death of 16-year-old Derrion Albert two weeks ago.

Duncan used to be CEO of Chicago Public Schools so he's familiar with the problems here. He said the grant money will be used not only at Fenger but at the schools that feed in to Fender to get a handle on the violence among different teen factions in the area.

Holder pointed out violence and gang problems are a problem in schools across the country. The vicious nature of the Derrion Albert attack sends a "stark wake up call" to the nation, said Holder.

In addition to meeting with city leaders, Holder and Duncan also met at an undisclosed location to speak with a group of Fenger students and faculty members.
