A Chicago man is charged with murder and aggravated battery after an early morning card game turned violent.
Maddox Larsha, 36, of the 8200 block of S. Kenwood Avenue, is charged in the murder of a 35-year-old man and the stabbing of a 31-year-old woman.
The men were reportedly playing cards at 4 a.m. Wednesday in Larsha's home. Police say there was an argument and Larsha stabbed the man several times in the chest and the woman once in the thigh.
One of the victims was able to call police. When police they arrived, they say they saw Larsha trying to sneak out a back exit and he was arrested.

Two Chicago men are charged in a road rage incident that left a 29-year-old man dead.
Elvin Cotto, 24, of the 5000 of N. Mango and Jose Sanchez, 26, of the 2800 block of of N. Nordica are charged with one count of reckless homicide and one count of leaving the scene of an accident.
Chicago police say Sanchez and Cotto exchanged words with the victims following a traffic altercation on the 5400 block of W. Belmont on February 13.
The two were in separate cars and both chased the victim for several blocks, eventually forcing him off the road, according to police.
The victim hit a light pole and died a shot time later.

A little bit of blood is what did in a Chicago man now charged in an armed home invasion in 2008.
James Garcia, 29, of the 4500 block of West Harrison. apparently cut himself during the break-in. Police say he left a few drops of blood behind after he allegedly stole $15,000 worth of jewelry from the residents of a home on the 4900 block of West Medill.
DNA from those blood drops were recently matched to Garcia when he was sent to Western Illinois Correctional Center on an unrelated gun conviction.
He'll now be tried on 2 counts of home invasion.
