Clinton, Illinois is a small, quiet town of 7,500 people and there may not that much exciting police work, but the police brass there say an officer could have found something better to do than watch porn on his squad car computer.
Officer Bill Hurst, 40, was fired Tuesday after a unanimous vote by the Clinton Police and Fire Commission.
Hurst was accused of viewing some 25 hour of hard core porn on the city-issued computer between November 2008 and January 2009.
Clinton police say viewing the porn violated a number of department policies.
The computers in police cars are supposed to be used for such things as running license plates or looking up warrants, not for adult entertainment.
This was apparently not the first time Hurst violated department policy. According to an Associated Press report, Hurst was disciplined in 2003 for exposing himself in a Clinton bar. At least his alleged predilections did not involve children ( see True Manhood Ministries story).
Hurst was a 15-year veteran of the force.
